Season 6 to be Last for ‘This is Us’
Time to invest in a Costco size package of Kleenex. NBC has announced that This is Us will end with its upcoming Season 6.
NBC’s hit drama follows the Pearson family as they deal with loss, love, and family tension. The award winner has made household names of stars Mandy Moore, Milo Ventimiglia, Sterling K. Brown, Justin Hartley, and Chrissy Metz.
When the series was renewed for three seasons in 2019, many speculated that Season 6 would be the end. Creator Dan Fogelman expressed in an April 2019 interview with THR that it was never meant to be a long-running show.
“We never set out to make a television series that was going to last 18 seasons, so we have a very direct plan. I have script pages I have written and I’m writing that really are deep, deep, deep into the future. We have a plan for what we’re going to do, and I know what the plan is,” he said.
This is Us airs Tuesdays at 9/8c on NBC.

ABC Renews ‘Grey’s Anatomy,’ ‘Station 19’
The staff at Grey-Sloan Memorial Hospital will continue saving lives and falling in love. ABC has renewed Grey’s Anatomy for Season 18.
Star Ellen Pompeo signed a new one-year deal, prompting the network to bring back its No. 1 drama. Original cast members Chandra Wilson and James Pickens Jr. have also signed new contracts.
As Season 17 has seen Meredith stuck on limbo beach while she fights Covid-19, the show has also been in limbo as Pompeo and ABC made their respective decisions.
The news comes just as longtime cast member Jesse Williams has announced his exit as Dr. Jackson Avery.
Grey’s Anatomy spinoff Station 19 has also been renewed and will return for Season 5. It stands as ABC’s second-ranked drama.
Executive Producer Krista Vernoff will continue as showrunner on both series.
“The writers, directors, casts, and crews of Grey’s Anatomy and Station 19 worked so hard to bring these shows to life this past season,” Vernoff said in a statement. “Keeping each other safe on set while paying tribute to the front-line heroes and first responders has been a challenge and a privilege. I’ve been truly blown away — particularly by our tireless crews — as they reinvented the TV-making wheel. Thank you to ABC and ABC Signature for the support and extraordinary partnership through this unprecedented season. We are so grateful for the opportunity to tell more stories.”
Station 19 airs Thursdays at 8/7c on ABC, followed by Grey’s Anatomy at 9/8c.

‘black-ish’ Gets Eighth and Final Season
After a ground-breaking run, black-ish is set to end with its upcoming eighth season.
The comedy starring Anthony Anderson and Tracee Ellis Ross follows the Johnsons as they explore what it means to be a successful Black family in America.
Creator Kenya Barris announced the end on Instagram.
“In this day and age it is rare to get to decide when your show should come to an end, and we are grateful along with ABC to be able to make this final season exactly what we’d hoped for – and to do it with the entire and AMAZINGLY STELLAR cast coming back to close this chapter out with us the right way!,” he said.
black-ish spawned a universe that includes its two spinoffs. Sequel grown-ish follows Yara Shahidi’s Zoey to college, while prequel mixed-ish focuses on Bow and her family adjusting to life outside the commune in the 1980s.
“This show has changed my life in so many ways and I am so proud of the conversations we’ve started along the way,” Barris continued. “None of this would have been possible without our audience and supporters, who have championed the show every step of the journey; allowing us to change not just the narrative of Black Families, but of Family, Culture, and the World in general. All the while allowing us to talk about things that people were not supposed to talk about period… especially on a network television comedy.”
black-ish airs Tuesdays at 9/8c on ABC.

Soap fans can relax for a little while. NBC has renewed Days of Our Lives for two more seasons, taking it to Seasons 57 and 58, per Deadline.

NBC Won’t Air 2022 Golden Globe Awards
As the Hollywood Foreign Press Association finds itself embroiled in controversy, NBC has decided not to air the 2022 Golden Globe Awards.
In February it was revealed that the organization has no Black members, prompting accusations of systemic racism. In response, the HFPA is planning several reforms, but for some studios and networks, it’s not enough.
Recently, Amazon, Netflix, and WarnerMedia all announced boycotts of the HFPA, with superstar Tom Cruise returning his three Golden Globes.
In a statement, NBC announced its decision.
“We continue to believe that the HFPA is committed to meaningful reform,” reads the statement. “However, change of this magnitude takes time and work, and we feel strongly that the HFPA needs time to do it right. As such, NBC will not air the 2022 Golden Globes. Assuming the organization executes on its plan, we are hopeful we will be in a position to air the show in January 2023.”
After the cancellation, the HFPA put out a statement and detailed timeline of its plans, per The Hollywood Reporter.
“Regardless of the next air date of the Golden Globes, implementing transformational changes as quickly – and as thoughtfully – as possible remains the top priority for our organization,” reads the statement. “We invite our partners in the industry to the table to work with us on the systemic reform that is long overdue, both in our organization as well as within the industry at large.”

The series focuses on profiler Malcolm Bright who helps the police help serial killers. Something he’s an expert in, because his father is infamous serial killer Martin Whitly aka “The Surgeon.”
