Prodigal Son Canceled at Fox After Two Seasons
Fox has canceled sophomore drama Prodigal Son according to a report from TVLine. The show, created by Chris Fedak and Sam Sklaver, will air its series finale on May 18.
Prodigal Son stars Tom Payne (The Walking Dead) as Malcolm Bright, a gifted criminal profiler and the son of a prolific serial killer. Michael Sheen (Good Omens) plays Bright’s father Martin Whitly also known as “The Surgeon.”
The procedural drama also stars Bellamy Young, Lou Diamond Phillips, Aurora Perrineau, Halston Sage, Frank Harts, and Keiko Agena.

Prodigal Son struggled with low ratings since its first season and was the last scripted series to be renewed by Fox last May for the 2020–2021 season.
Despite bringing in big-name guest stars including Alan Cumming and Catherine Zeta-Jones, the show continued to draw low ratings in its second season.
Prodigal Son is produced by Warner Bros. Television. Warner Bros. has not commented on whether it will attempt to shop the show to other networks. Season 1 of Prodigal Son is currently available to watch on HBOMax.

Fox has not yet revealed the fates of the rest of its drama lineup including 9-1-1, 9-1-1: Lone Star, and The Resident.
