Legacies Review: I Was Made to Love You (Season 3 Episode 12)

Legacies, Reviews

Things take an eventful turn when an enemy amongst the group is revealed on Legacies Season 3 Episode 12, “I Was Made to Love You.” Meanwhile, Ethan makes a drastic decision, a familiar face gets a makeover, and Josie takes the first step towards a relationship with Finch.

It’s clear that Legacies is attempting to end the back-half of the season off strong, and they’re succeeding. The momentum from last week continues on this week’s episode as all of the major storylines at play hit a pivotal moment in their arc.

I wish that I could say the revelation of Cleo being the villain the whole time is a complete shock because I love her character, but there’s always been something fishy there. There have been off vibes from the beginning, but it’s not something that I wanted to believe because I was hoping to see her stay on until next season.

For the time being, the question is: who is Cleo, and just how old is she? Leonardo Da Vinci recognizing Cleo is one of my favorite twists because I did not foresee it coming and her reaction to him is so genuine and as if nothing was wrong. If Da Vinci is the one who made the artifact and recognized Cleo, then how did she come to be locked in the artifact for centuries? I’m very intrigued to learn about who she really is.

Omono Okojie has proven that she’s a formidable actress, but this episode showcases more of her range. If she wasn’t on people’s map yet, she sure should be after “I Was Made to Love You.” I foresee her having a long, successful career. I need to see her lead a horror movie because there’s no doubt in my mind that she would excel and shine.

The Landon that Hope has been laying up with has actually been a golem the entire time, proving that love can cloud your viewpoint on someone because Hope never noticed. What does this mean for the real Landon who exposes himself as the mysterious bone figure from the woods, though? Why was Landon sitting back and observing this entire time when Hope was being deceived.

It looks as if Landon has gotten older, so there could be a possibility that he escaped the prison world but didn’t return to the year he left? All I know is he better have a good explanation for allowing Hope to be fake happy this entire time.

MG and Ethan’s superhero storyline has been an interesting one, to say the least, but it’s genuinely an upsetting moment to watch MG erase one of his best friends’ memory. Ethan proves that he can’t handle the news of the supernatural world because it takes him an entire three minutes to ask to be a vampire after learning he can become one.

It would be one thing simply asking MG to turn him, but to steal his daylight ring and then run off to commit suicide is a whole other ballgame. He’s lucky to have a friend like MG who will run across a lake while on fire, all to save a friend’s life.

I hope that this time the compelling will work, and Ethan will finally move on with his life instead of continuing to seek out the supernatural world. But, I can foresee another twist with him coming in the near future.

As for Josie and Finch, my heart can’t handle the amount of chemistry between the two. I hope that Finch takes Josie up on her offer to join her at the Salvatore school because it would be a valuable opportunity for her to learn how to control her abilities. Plus, we’d get to see more cute interactions between her and Josie, which is a win for everyone.

I hope that the pacing for the show continues throughout the rest of the season and Landon stays put this time around.

Other Thoughts:

  • The necromancer coming back as a human named Ted is glorious and most definitely a comedic treat.
  • The only thing about the episode that I don’t absolutely love is the cheesiness of the grenade scene with Ted, Alaric, and Josie. It could’ve been played out more realistically with the same comedic value to it.

Favorite Quotes:

  • “E-ssential. That was going to be your superhero name.” – MG.
  • “You called me Ted. I die knowing I’m no longer a monster in your eyes. I’ve accomplished my mission in this life. May you do the same.” – Ted.
  • “We used to be black magic frenemies which turned me into a Hot Topic supervillain. So standing up to you feels like personal growth.” – Josie.
