‘The Summer I Turned Pretty’ Goes Back to December in Season 2 Trailer
The Summer I Turned Pretty upholds a tradition as its much-anticipated Season 2 trailer debuts a sneak peek at Taylor Swift’s “Back to December (Taylor’s Version).”
The new footage comes together with the mix of “august” from Swift’s folklore record that features in The Summer I Turned Pretty‘s teaser trailer for the upcoming season.
As previously reported, the teen drama’s sophomore season makes its three-episode premiere on Friday, July 13, on Prime Video, with new episodes following weekly until the season finale on Friday, August 18.

Fans will remember that The Summer I Turned Pretty‘s Season 1 trailer delivered the first snippets of Taylor Swift’s “This Love (Taylor’s Version).” Since that song closes out Belly and Conrad’s Summer at Cousins, it’s fitting that the Season 2 trailer picks up with Belly remembering those moments.
As wistful as the trailer is, it’s mournful of a time that can never be replicated because Susannah has passed away after her battle with cancer, and Conrad and Jeremiah have cut off communication with Belly and Stephen.
To make matters worse, it appears that Jeremiah only calls Belly to reveal that Conrad is missing until they find him to learn that the beach house is for sale.
Enter the previously announced Kyra Sedgwick and Elsie Fisher, who join The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 2 in recurring roles alongside Jackie Chung and Rachel Blanchard. While details around Sedgwick and Fisher’s roles are still under wraps, the new footage teases that Sedgwick’s character is interested in selling the house.

But the characters aren’t giving up on the beach house without a fight, including Laurel, who tries to appeal to Sedgwick’s character better angels about how much this house means to Conrad and Jeremiah.
Meanwhile, Belly, Conrad, Jeremiah, Stephen, Taylor, Cam Cameron, and Fisher’s unnamed (as of now) character band together to do whatever they can to save this piece of Cousins — of Susannah.
Because The Summer I Turned Pretty is based on the best-selling book trilogy from Jenny Han, fans of the source material will notice teases of familiar scenes, like what appears to be Christmas at Cousins.
“Belly used to count down the days until she could return to Cousins Beach, but with Conrad and Jeremiah fighting over her heart and the return of Susannah’s cancer, she’s not sure summer will ever be the same,” per the season’s synopsis.

“When an unexpected visitor threatens the future of Susannah’s beloved house, Belly has to rally the gang to come together—and to decide once and for all where her heart lies,” it continued.
The Summer I Turned Pretty was renewed for Season 2 in June 2022, ahead of its series debut on Prime Video.
Jenny Han and Sarah Kucserka are showrunners of The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 2. Han, Kucserka, Karen Rosenfelt, and Gabrielle Stanton are executive producers, along with Hope Hartman, Mads Hansen, and Paul Lee for wiip. The series is a co-production of Amazon Studios and wiip.
