‘The Summer I Turned Pretty’ Renewed for Season 2 by Prime Video
Prime Video renewed The Summer I Turned Pretty for Season 2 ahead of its series premiere later this month!
The first season, a co-production of Amazon Studios and wiip, debuts on Prime Video on June 17. The series is an adaptation of Jenny Han’s trilogy of The Summer I Turned Pretty books.
Han has garnered quite the name for herself in young-adult adaptations after her To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before trilogy was adapted into movies starring Lana Condor and Noah Centineo on Netflix.
Soon enough, Netflix will be the home of a spin-off series called XO, Kitty that follows To All the Boys‘ Lara Jean’s younger sister Kitty.

As for Han’s latest, The Summer I Turned Pretty is described as “a multigenerational drama that hinges on a love triangle between one girl and two brothers, the ever-evolving relationship between mothers and their children, and the enduring power of strong female friendship.”
This coming-of-age story features everything from the highs and lows of first love and first heartbreak to “the magic of that one perfect summer.”
In a statement, Han expressed her excitement about The Summer I Turned Pretty‘s early renewal. “When I decided to adapt Summer for television, I knew we’d need more than one season to honor the story we are telling,” Jenny Han said.
“To receive a second season pickup ahead of the premiere of Season One is beyond my wildest dreams. I am so grateful to Amazon Studios for this amazing vote of confidence in our show, and cannot wait to bring our incredible team back together to tell the next chapter in our story,” Han added.

Paul Lee, CEO wiip, joined in on the anticipation for the series, “The wait is almost over until audiences around the world can experience Jenny Han’s extraordinary style of storytelling come to life on screen, as her new and longtime fans alike share our excitement for Season One of The Summer I Turned Pretty to make its global debut.”
“We’re incredibly excited to continue on this journey with Jenny and the talented team at Amazon to make Season Two of this beloved young adult series,” Lee added.
Vernon Sanders, head of global television, Amazon Studios, shared encouraging sentiments about the company’s collaboration with Han.
“We look forward to our Prime Video customers returning to Cousins Beach with Jenny Han and her characters as they continue their coming-of-age journeys for another season,” Sanders stated.

It’s comforting to know that another season will follow the series’ debut. Since The Summer I Turned Pretty is an adaptation of a trilogy, in theory, the series could last for at least three seasons.
Jenny Han and Sarah Kucserka are the showrunners of The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 2. Han, Kucserka, Karen Rosenfelt, and Gabrielle Stanton serve as executive producers, along with Hope Hartman, Mads Hansen, and Paul Lee for wiip.
The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 1 stars Lola Tung, Jackie Chung, Rachel Blanchard, Christopher Briney, Gavin Casalegno, Sean Kaufman, Alfredo Narciso, and Minnie Mills, with Colin Ferguson and Tom Everett Scott.
So, what do you say? Are you ready for another perfect summer filled with magic, friendship, and romance?
