‘The Summer I Turned Pretty’ Trailer Released by Prime Video
Get ready to kick off summer early with The Summer I Turned Pretty on Prime Video!
The first trailer for the coming-of-age series teases the multigenerational story at its core, along with the captivating love triangle at its heart.
Per the official description, The Summer I Turned Pretty‘s “a multigenerational drama that hinges on a love triangle between one girl and two brothers, the ever-evolving relationship between mothers and their children, and the enduring power of strong female friendship.”
This young-adult story will delve into “first love, first heartbreak, and the magic of that one perfect summer” when it premieres on Prime Video on Friday, June 17.

The Summer I Turned Pretty follows Belly and her mother as they venture to her mom’s best friend Susannah’s house for the summer. Susannah always assumed Belly was destined to be with one of her sons — either Conrad or Jeremiah.
This fateful summer could be the one that changes everything for their dynamic when Conrad and Jeremiah start to see Belly in a new light.
From the trailer, The Summer I Turned Pretty plays with many romance tropes within its central love triangle. Belly and Jeremiah could deliver on the best friends-to-lovers trope, while things look more complicated for Belly and Conrad.
Then again, transforming a dynamic from friends to lovers comes with its fair share of complications, and it likely won’t help that Conrad and Jeremiah are brothers.

Beyond the love triangle, The Summer I Turned Pretty makes a point to highlight the importance of friendship in its trailer. One of the most poignant quotes from the two-minute video is, “Boys may come and go, but a best friend is once in a lifetime.”
That line plays over a scene with Belly’s mom Laurel and Susannah on the beach, underscoring Belly missing her best friend.
Then, as if The Summer I Turned Pretty hasn’t already captured the vibes of a perfect, transformative summer, the trailer is set to “This Love (Taylor’s Version)” by Taylor Swift.
This version of the song from Swift’s yet-to-be-released 1989 (Taylor’s Version) album debuted in The Summer I Turned Pretty‘s teaser trailer earlier this month. The music is as dreamy as the trailer; it’s a perfect match.

The Summer I Turned Pretty is an adaptation of Jenny Han’s trilogy of books. It’s the latest adaptation of her works, coming after the To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before movies for Netflix.
Han’s next YA-adaptation XO, Kitty, a To All the Boys spin-off series, follows Lara Jean’s younger sister Kitty. The series is currently in production and will stream on Netflix. Han will also executive produce and co-showrun XO, Kitty.
The Prime Video series is led by showrunners Jenny Han, who also wrote the pilot and Gabrielle Stanton. Han, Stanton, and Karen Rosenfelt serve as executive producers, along with Hope Hartman, Mads Hansen, and Nne Ebong for wiip. The series is a co-production of Amazon Studios and wiip.
The Summer I Turned Pretty stars Lola Tung, Jackie Chung, Rachel Blanchard, Christopher Briney, Gavin Casalegno, Sean Kaufman, Alfredo Narciso, and Minnie Mills, with Colin Ferguson and Tom Everett Scott.
