The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 2 Adds Kyra Sedgwick and Elsie Fisher
Look out, Cousins Beach! Kyra Sedgwick and Elsie Fisher are joining The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 2 in recurring roles.
The show’s official Instagram account posted a video announcement for the casting news, revealing Fisher will play a character named Skye.
The video doesn’t share who Sedgwick will portray, but it does show her reading the second book in Jenny Han’s trilogy, It’s Not Summer Without You.
Fans of Han’s books, on which the series is based, will notice that Fisher’s Skye is not a character from the source material.
So, while Sedgwick’s prop suggests The Summer I Turned Pretty will somewhat follow the second book, the show may change some things.
The YA show’s first season makes a few changes to The Summer I Turned Pretty, like adding a debutante ball and the more significant presence of Belly’s brother Steven.
As reported, The Summer I Turned Pretty was renewed for a second before its first premiered. Prime Video confirms the coming-of-age series “became the No. 1 show” on the streaming service “during its premiere weekend.”

Season 1 charted a multigenerational drama featuring love triangles, female friendships, and the relationships between mothers and their children as Belly Conklin spent another summer at Cousins Beach.
Belly’s mother Laurel and her best friend Susannah grapple with the possibility that this summer at Cousins could be their last as Susannah’s battle with cancer continues.
Belly experiences a transformative summer where she winds up in a love triangle with Susannah’s sons Conrad and Jeremiah. However, it could be considered a love square at the start because of Cam Cameron.
The season ends with Susannah vowing to participate in a trial to better her chance of surviving the disease. Plus, Belly finds herself kissing Conrad Fisher on Cousins Beach like she always imagined. Season 2 will likely ask, “But what about Jeremiah?”

Elsie Fisher’s Instagram post about joining the popular series included “SEE U SOON PALS” in the caption.
Fisher’s involvement with this series isn’t the beginning of a collaboration with Prime Video. Fisher is the lead in Prime Video’s My Best Friend’s Exorcism, which will drop at the end of September.
Jenny Han and Sarah Kucserka are showrunners on The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 2. Han, Kucserka, Karen Rosenfelt, and Gabrielle Stanton serve as executive producers, along with Hope Hartman, Mads Hansen, and Paul Lee for wiip.
The Summer I Turned Pretty is co-produced by wiip. Season 2 is currently in production.
