The Super Friends reunite when Kara finally returns home on SupergirlSeason 6 Episode 8, “Welcome Back, Kara!” The Girl of Steel is back after more than a three-month hiatus!
That wait was long for us, but the same amount of time has not passed for these characters. Kara is still reeling after her prolonged time in the Phantom Zone.
She has Alex and her friends to lean on, but it’s not easy to shake off what she experienced. The promo video does lean heavily on the next crisis the Super Friends must deal with but it doesn’t sidestep the very important personal journey Kara will experience in the remaining episodes.
The mental health of our heroes matters, and Kara Danvers is no exception.
Supergirlis always at its best when it focuses on these characters and the social issues that matter to them. It looks like the series will get back to that before Melissa Benoist hangs up the cape for the last time.
There is still some levity waiting for us in “Welcome Back, Kara!” Like Kara did for Mon-El back in the day, she takes her father Zor-El to CatCo with her to learn how to behave as any other human would.
No different from herself or Mon-El, Zor-El will likely face some setbacks and slipups. There’s just no way that there won’t be some laughs when he comes up against Andrea Rojas.
Most importantly, though, there are so many meaningful reunions to prepare ourselves for in this episode. It’s going to be emotional and a bit overwhelming to see all of our favorite characters back in the same room.
