WandaVision Review: The Series Finale (Season 1 Episode 9)
WandaVision Season 1 Episode 9, “The Series Finale,” proves that the series has been about Wanda’s grief and her journey towards acceptance all along.
There was a concern going into the finale that there wasn’t enough time to provide a satisfying conclusion to Wanda’s tale. With episodes running around the 30-minute mark and the big battle only starting on WandaVision Season 1 Episode 8, “Previously On,” this episode had a lot on its plate.
However, “The Series Finale” shows that we had nothing to worry about because it manages to wrap (almost) everything up nicely, giving us a satisfying conclusion to this tale. There only people who might be upset are the ones who got too attached to fan theories that never panned out.

Nothing about the finale is rushed. There’s time to focus on Wanda’s storylines, in addition to dealing with this new Vision, Hayward, and putting Westview back to normal, with the addition of one nosy neighbor. The series manages to get it all done rather nicely.
WandaVision sets up an exciting arc for Wanda and Monica in future MCU projects without leaving us to feel like nothing’s resolved. We get closure and a nice setup for future projects. “The Series Finale” is definitely a fantastic ending to a wonderful, wacky show.
One of the reasons why I’ve grown to love WandaVision so much is its focus on Wanda’s grief and her love for Vision. It’s been a masterclass of storytelling, character development, and acting, watching this all play out. Elizabeth Olsen does an absolutely stellar job during each episode, especially this one.

It’s impossible not to be completely devastated as Wanda says goodbye to her twins and to Vision, all with the hex border slowly approaching, returning Westview to life pre-sitcom. The tears would not stop flowing.
It’s safe to say that WandaVision will be a show that we will all return to when we’re in the mood for a fantastic mixture of levity, love, and loss. I’m already planning a rewatch. Overall, it’s an amazing series.
We walk away from WandaVision with a deeper love and appreciation for Wanda and Vision, and, unexpectedly, we also learn a lot more about Wanda’s powers. There’s so much more going on here than we thought, and it’s been riveting to see it all unfold.
Agatha: The Scarlet Witch is not born, she is forged. She has no coven, no need for incantation.
Wanda: I’m not a witch. I don’t cast spells. No one taught me magic!
Agatha: Your power exceeds that of the sorcerer supreme. It’s your destiny to destroy the world.
Wanda: I’m not what you say I am.
WandaVision could have solely focused on Wanda’s grief, with Wanda making peace with everything at the series’ end. We still get that, but we also get this new mystery about the truth behind her powers. Well, I guess magic is the correct term for them.
It’s exciting to have this new aspect that we, and Wanda, get to research and learn more about. Agatha’s witchcraft lessons show that there’s so much more to learn here and that Wanda’s a quick study.
If those lessons are any indication of what’s to come, then I’m beyond stoked to follow Wanda as she learns more about her title of The Scarlet Witch. She’s already got the amazing outfit down, and while Agatha warned of destruction, Wanda proves that she will put what’s right above her own happiness.

Stray Thoughts
- The wicked witch nod with Agatha’s shoes under the car is fantastic.
- This finale could have used more of Darcy.
- I’m extremely excited to see where Wanda’s journey goes.
- Woo is an adorable badass stealing a phone and breaking out of handcuffs.
- All I want is for Wanda to get her family ending with her family.
- Vision’s theoretical discussion during the final battle is hilarious. I love him.
- Wanda and Monica need to be reunited sometime soon.
- There are still so many questions about Monica’s powers.
