15 Actors We’d Like to See Host Saturday Night Live

Lists

It’s everyone’s favorite time of the year: the return of Saturday Night Live!

One of the most exciting parts of SNL’s format is the announcement of the weekly celebrity guest host. Some notable guest hosts in recent years have included popular actors such as Pedro Pascal and musicians like Bad Bunny, as well as SNL alums like John Mulaney.

While so many celebrities have already hosted SNL before, there are plenty of celebrities who have yet to make their debut hosting this iconic sketch show.

Here’s our list of 15 celebrities who we’d love to see host Saturday Night Live:

1. Domhnall Gleeson
The Paper Season 1 Episode 1

Although Domhnall Gleeson is known for his role in franchises like Harry Potter and Star Wars, he recently got to show off his comedic chops on The Paper, the new spinoff of The Office.

Even with the restriction of putting on an American accent, he’s more than proven himself to be able to pull off a joke on The Paper. So, the opportunity to host SNL would allow him to put his sketch skills to the test.

Plus, the SNL Star Wars sketches, such as the Undercover Boss one with Adam Driver, are always a hit. If Gleeson hosts, he can surely bring back his character General Hux for a fun, in-universe sketch.

2. Jack Quaid

Jack Quaid has captured the hearts of many in his role as Hughie on The Boys, making him a great recognizable face to have on SNL. He’s most known for his action-oriented roles, but Quaid also has a strong connection to the LA comedy scene.

There are endless possibilities for the kinds of characters Quaid could play, ranging from a supportive, likable boyfriend to a dark, cunning mastermind. SNL is the perfect platform for Quaid to put forth his best comedic skills and dynamic acting.

It would also make sense to have him come onto the show to promote the highly anticipated final season of The Boys.

3. Diego Luna
ANDOR SEASON 2

Even if the Emmys decided to snub Diego Luna this year, SNL certainly shouldn’t.

This talented actor is most well-known for starring as the pivotal character on Andor, but his natural charisma makes him a natural actor and a great choice for a host.

Luna has also been very vocal about advocating for immigrant rights, and considering SNL‘s niche of political humor, he could make a great addition to their lineup of timely, news-based sketches.

He also has an upcoming movie, Kiss of the Spider Woman, meaning he’s due to make public appearances again. What better way to promote a new movie than by going on Saturday Night Live?

4. Hannah Einbinder

Coming off hot on the heels of an Emmy win for Best Supporting Actress, Hannah Einbinder of Hacks fame would make a great SNL host.

She’s naturally hilarious, both on the comedy show for which she’s known and in her stand-up work.

Since comedy practically runs in Einbinder’s blood, she would naturally blend well with the rest of the SNL cast. In fact, she had even originally auditioned to join the show early in her career, just like her mother had four decades ago.

After that Emmy win and all her accomplishments, it’s safe to say that she’s more than earned the right to host the show.

5. Steven Yeun

While he’s originally known for his role on The Walking Dead, Steven Yeun has made a name for himself in recent years for his voice acting work on Invincible and his role on the critically acclaimed dramedy Beef.

Yeun might seem like an unlikely choice for a comedy sketch show, but before he was known for dramatic acting, he was part of Second City Chicago’s improv group. Plus, he appeared on the Tim Robinson sketch show I Think You Should Leave.

The world needs more Steven Yeun, and SNL would be the perfect way to show his comedic abilities to a larger audience.

6. Adam Scott
Severance Season 1 Episode 9, “The We We Are”

Before he was battling twisted corporate overlords on Severance, Adam Scott was known for his appearances on iconic sitcoms like Parks and RecreationParty Down, and The Good Place.

Despite his years of experience working on comedy shows, Scott surprisingly hasn’t hosted SNL yet. But as more and more people are recognizing his talents, it’s about time he hosts.

He’s also close friends with Parks and Recreation co-star Amy Poehler. So, if he landed a guest hosting gig, he could absolutely bring his friend and Saturday Night Live alum on for a sketch or surprise monologue appearance.

7. Cristin Milioti

Another powerhouse actress who won an Emmy for a supporting actress role this year is Cristin Milioti. People likely know her from her role on The Penguin and her appearances on the anthology series, Black Mirror.

However, one of her standout roles was in the rom-com time-loop movie, Palm Springs, where she co-starred with Saturday Night Live alum Andy Samberg. She also has some years on a comedy under her belt due to her recurring role on How I Met Your Mother.

She would certainly crush hosting duties on SNL, bringing her signature enthusiasm along with a fun attitude that would be perfect for the show.

8. Julio Torres

As evidenced by Amy Poehler hosting a Season 51 episode, Saturday Night Live consistently invites its alumni back, making Julio Torres an excellent choice.

After his time writing for SNL, Torres gained a dedicated following for his brand of whimsical comedy. He created and starred in Fantasmas and Los Espookys, and he even has his own stand-up special where he explores the personality of shapes.

Although Torres’s style of humor is much more subtle than SNL‘s, it would be interesting to see him host and help write another iconic sketch. After all, he gave us the famed Papyrus sketch starring Ryan Reynolds and the Wells for Boys ad spoof featuring Emma Stone.

9. Harvey Guillén

By far, the saddest part of What We Do in the Shadows ending was losing weekly Harvey Guillén appearances. While this sitcom has a strong ensemble cast, Guillén was easily one of the breakout stars, effortlessly playing the role of the “straight” man to the vampire’s craziness.

Since the show ended, Guillén has primarily been involved in voice acting and studio movie roles, such as starring in Blue Beetle. However, he hasn’t had the opportunity to do a lot of work in comedy since starring as Guillermo.

Saturday Night Live would be an excellent way for Guillén to come back to the world of comedy. He has already made appearances on Stephen Colbert as George Santos, proving that he would be a great character actor on this iconic sketch show.

10. Manny Jacinto
The Good Place Season 4 Episode 13 and 14 - Manny Jacinto as Jason

Manny Jacinto has earned the title of a heartthrob after starring on The Acolyte, but he also proved that he’s incredibly funny in his role as Jason on The Good Place.

He’s definitely one of the most underrated actors in the industry, who has only gotten recognition in the past few years.

Jacinto would be a great pick to appeal to the younger demographic of SNL fans who are more familiar with his work. Doing sketches on Saturday Night Live would allow Jacinto to reconnect with his sillier side after his string of dramatic roles.

11. Alison Brie
Somebody I Used to Know
Alison Brie stars in Somebody I Used to Know

Alison Brie is most well-known for starring as Annie Edison on the beloved sitcom Community.

During her press tour for the horror movie Together, Brie proved that she still can make people laugh. Her effortless ability to crack a joke makes her a great fit for being an SNL host.

Considering that Community is set to have its movie released soon, appearing on SNL would be the perfect way to promote Brie’s return to comedy.

12. Zach Woods
Avenue 5 Season 1 Episode 8 "This Is Physically Hurting Me"

Perhaps out of everyone on this list, Zach Woods might have the most experience in comedy. He has starred in several notable sitcoms, including Silicon Valley, The Office, and Avenue 5.

Woods is also one of the most outspoken comedians politically. This means that he could bring his perspective to SNL‘s trademark political comedy sketches and cold opens.

He’s such a talented comedian that I’m confident he would be able to nail any sketch that SNL throws his way.

13. Randall Park
BLOCKBUSTER Season 1 Episode 6

Another sitcom veteran who deserves to host SNL is Randall Park. He’s had leading roles in sitcoms like Fresh Off The Boat and Blockbuster, though a large chunk of the internet knows him as “Asian Jim” from The Office.

Park usually plays friendly characters, which is why having him on Saturday Night Live would be such a fun episode. A lot of SNL sketches have over-the-top humor, and seeing how Park either counteracts or indulges in that style of comedy would be super entertaining.

Also, he has ties to the Marvel Universe as Agent Jimmy Woo, which means SNL could also do a Marvel-themed sketch if he hosts.

14. Tim Robinson

Robinson is yet another SNL alum who hasn’t been invited to host the show. While he was only a featured player for one season, Robinson quickly gained popularity for his sketch show, I Think You Should Leave.

He has a unique sense of humor that borders on awkward and uncomfortable, but still manages to produce laughs.

Considering his familiarity with SNL and experience writing for the show, it would be fun to see what characters Robinson would cook up for the sketches on an episode he hosts.

15. Kathryn Hahn
AGATHA ALL ALONG

When Kathryn Hahn isn’t casting spells as Agatha on Agatha All Along, she’s trying to get a box office hit on The Studio. Her hilarious line deliveries and physical comedy shine throughout The Studio.

Hahn’s ability to stand out but also add to the ensemble energy is why she would do so well on SNL. Whenever she portrays a new character, Hahn manages to embody it so deeply that she essentially disappears into the role.

With this in mind, she surely would be able to add some new quotable characters to the ever-expanding catalogue of Saturday Night Live characters.

That concludes our list of actors we’d like to see host Saturday Night Live! Who from this list would you like to see host the most? Who would you add to this list? Comment below!

New episodes of Saturday Night Live Season 51 air on Saturdays at 11:30 pm EST on NBC.
