The Vampire Diaries Review: Kill ‘Em All (Season 7 Episode 20)
Oh snap! So – that happened.
This week’s episode on The Vampire Diaries, entitled “Kill ‘Em All,” follows Damon and the gang doing exactly that as they race to kill all the vampires on Rayna’s list as an exchange for Bonnie’s life.
One of the best things about this week’s episode is that Caroline Forbes is now back.
I missed Candice Accola-King, and we finally are able to see what her relationship with Alaric is really like; because until now, it’s only really been Stefan and Alaric talking about how she’s adjusted to her life as the future Mrs. Saltzman.
And it’s interesting to watch, really. They seem like friends – best friends even, which is what Care calls Alaric; near the end of the episode, she even tells him that she loves their little family. But she never says she loves him.
She says everything she can to make sure he understands that she’s not leaving – except that she loves him.
Which is sad because I think even Alaric realizes that she doesn’t. Caroline hates Stefan right now and she’s given up the idea of love, or even the chance of being with Stefan, for her daughters.
It’s okay, though!
I’m sure there’ll be an awkward love triangle for a couple of episodes when everyone finds out about Bonnie’s new hobby, considering both Caroline and Stefan are both vampires.
Speaking of Bonnie’s new hobby… that sucks, huh?
That little monologue Rayna has prepared for Bonnie about finding peace, and her dad, really got me. I think everyone in this world believed her. And then, in the end, she betrayed them!
I get it… Rayna really had no reason to help Damon. He locked her up and even killed her a couple of times. But it’s just such an unfortunate turn of events. Now Bonnie’s not dying (yay), but she has the urge to literally kill every single vampire she comes across.
My question? Where will she keep all the souls of the vampires she kills since the Hell Stone doesn’t exist?
Since Bonnie hangs out exclusively with vampires, this could be a very big challenge; and there will be a lot of blame that goes around, specifically to Damon.
I’m becoming a bit tired of everyone blaming Damon.
He’s honestly one of the most consistent characters on this show, so the fact that everyone kind of freaks out when he’s willing to make the hard choice to save one the few people he cares about, flabbergasts me. Similarly, it amazes me whenever they blamed Stefan for something that they deep down know he couldn’t have done; because you know, Stefan wants to feel every single episode of How I Met Your Mother.
Damon has made the hard choices for Elena – even while she was with Stefan.
He’s done it for Stefan.
And this week, he does it for Bonnie.
But I’m sure everyone will reprimand him and just make him feel like crap again. None of these kids can catch a break.
To be honest, “Kill ‘Em All” is just a filler episode. It lacks any real danger or worry for our characters and falls short of being…engaging. We know that Season 8 will be Kat Graham’s last, so we already know that Bonnie will survive!
Apparently, the cast worked their butts off for the final three episodes, so… let’s see what happens. Will Bonnie become a crazy, death-filled huntress? Will someone be affected with whatever’s in the tomb? Will Damon ever catch a break? And will Matt ever become relevant?
