Previews, Star Trek: Strange New Worlds

From lost worlds to lost ship, the crew of the Enterprise discovers a lost Federation ship with a mysterious past on Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Season 4 Episode 2, “Griffin Incident.”

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Season 4 Episode 1, “Valles Marineris,” kicked Season 4 off with a timey-wimey, action-oriented episode that saw the crew stranded in the Jurassic era.

While there, they encountered a long-lost Martian civilization. They also learned that their actions in the past played a role in the evolution of life on Earth, eventually leading to the future they know.

Don’t think about it too much, you’ll just end up with a headache.

On “Griffin Incident,” the crew is once again unraveling a mystery from the past. This time, though, on a much smaller scale than the origins of human life.

Instead of an actual trip to the past, the crew comes upon a ship from the Federation’s past that disappeared years earlier. And, of course, they beam aboard to check it out. Unfortunately, the dangers that destroyed that ship remain a threat, putting the crew’s lives in jeopardy.

The crew must figure out what caused the original ship’s demise if they are to avoid the same fate.

Joining the current crew of the Enterprise for this mission is its future Captain, James T. Kirk. James Kirk, of course, also happens to be the brother of the current Kirk serving on the Enterprise, Sam.

Hopefully, having both brothers prominently featured on the episode means the series will be delving a little deeper into their sibling dynamic

Perhaps the biggest question regarding future Captain Kirk’s presence on this mission is whether this is the episode where we really start to see his bond with Spock form.

The preview images don’t give too many hints regarding that, but we do know that’s something we can expect from this season. It wouldn’t be surprising if we see those two start to get closer on “Griffin Incident.”

While the preview images don’t offer many hints about significant interactions between Kirk and Spock, a picture of Spock sitting with Nurse Chapel suggests we might get some further closure on their relationship.

What characters are you most hoping will get some good scenes together during the episode?
