Doc Renewed for a 22-Episode Third Season at FOX

Doc, News

Doc will return for another super-sized season on FOX!

The network has renewed the medical drama for a 22-episode third season.

That episode count continues a pattern for the Molly Parker-led series that has become quite rare on TV. After a 10-episode debut season, FOX renewed the Doc for a 22-episode sophomore season in February 2025.

Doc has become a true breakout for Fox, delivering our largest scripted multiplatform audience of the season and building remarkable momentum across Fox, Hulu, Netflix, and internationally — earning it another 22-episode order,” Fox Television Network president Michael Thorn said, per The Hollywood Reporter.

“That success is a testament to the exceptional creative leadership of [showrunners] Hank Steinberg and Barbie Kligman, our terrific partners at Sony, and the talented Molly Parker, whose deeply nuanced performance gives the series its soul,” Thorn added.

With this renewal news, the show joins the previously-renewed Animal Control and Doc‘s Tuesday night lead-in, Best Medicine, on FOX’s 2026/2027 programming scheduling.

Deadline exclusively reports that Doc was actually the first of the network’s renewals, but “showrunner deal-making delayed the official pickup a bit.”

“We couldn’t be more thrilled to be continuing our partnership with Rob Wade, Michael Thorn, and their amazing teams at Fox,” Sony Pictures Television Studios president Katherine Pope said.

“This milestone highlights Doc‘s compelling storytelling and standout performances that have resonated with audiences globally. We’re incredibly proud of the exceptional writing from Hank and Barbie, and of Molly Parker’s powerful, nuanced performance at the center of the series,” Pope added.

This renewal also comes one day before Doc Season 2 Episode 17, “Good Hands,” airs on Tuesday, March 10, at 9/8c on FOX.

Based on the Italian series Nelle tue mani, which was created and is produced by Lux Vide, a Fremantle Company, Doc also stars Omar Metwally, Felicity Huffman, Amirah Vann, Charlotte Fountain-Jardim, Jon Ecker, and Anya Banerjee.

Barbie Kligman and Hank Steinberg serve as showrunners and executive producers. Erwin Stoff and Judith McCreary are also executive producers.

Sony Pictures Television and FOX Entertainment Studios produce.

Doc airs Tuesdays at 9/8c on FOX.
