With her condition worsening, Joan’s situation reaches a tipping point on Doc Season 2 Episode 17, “Good Hands.”
Joan’s illness has been a slow-burning story since her introduction at the beginning of the season. Always cooking in the background but not really boiling over.
At least not until recent episodes when TJ and Sonya started to get suspicious. It wasn’t until Doc Season 1 Episode 15, “Trust,” that they finally discovered (most) of the truth.
It didn’t take long from there for more people to find out. TJ and Sonya told Jake, who was standing at Amy’s door, ready to tell her at the end of Doc Season 2 Episode 16, “Best We Can Do.”
This really feels like the point of no return for Joan. And if the promo is anything to go by, that might be for the best, since it really seems in the interest of patient safety and the hospital overall that she stop performing surgery.
Will Joan be able to pull off a high-risk surgery and buy herself some more time? Will Amy be able to convince her friend to do what’s best for the hospital and her patients? And, if Joan has to step down as Chief, who will replace her?
