Chicago Fire Season 14 Episode 14 Review: Hit and Run
Just as Pascal seems to be finally settling into Firehouse 51 and truly belonging to this family, Chicago Fire Season 14 Episode 14, “Hit and Run,” forces us to say goodbye to him. The reasoning behind his departure seems ridiculous. They are using his disobedience to the FBI during the One Chicago crossover event, “Reckoning,” as an excuse to terminate him.
This doesn’t seem like a reason enough to fire him, but it has always been obvious that the department has been targeting him and waiting for the perfect moment to get rid of him. Nevertheless, Firehouse 51 doesn’t believe this is the right call, particularly Mouch.
Now that he is back with his team, Mouch believes he should fight back for Pascal since he did the same for him. He uses his public report as a means to an end, putting into words everything he believes Pascal has done right and why he is a great leader who should stay in charge. Whether this changes things is yet to be seen.

Pascal’s leaving means they will have a new chief who is covering multiple firehouses. Therefore, Severide will be the head of the house while there is no permanent chief.
But Severide spends the entire episode chasing after the man who nearly killed Stella in a hit-and-run during a call. His mind is completely occupied by this, making sure the police don’t let go of the case until they find the man.
Severide shows no patience and is eager to solve the case, but it isn’t until Cruz calls him out on it that he realizes how his behavior may have been wrong. Cruz always seems to be the one to pull people back and guide them toward what is right. In this case, he also tells Severide that his avoidance of Pascal’s departure might also be because he doesn’t want to be in charge.
However, Severide is the perfect person to be in charge of the house. His entire career has built him up to this moment, and fans know he would be the perfect replacement. Pascal reiterates this by leaving his office to him.

As Pascal gets ready to leave, he wants to check all the items off his list to make sure he leaves the firehouse in top condition. While the men go along with it, Stella begins to feel the same way she did when Pascal first joined the team. His inspection of every detail of her actions makes her feel as if she isn’t enough, and she continuously needs to prove she is good at her job.
But instead of staying quiet as she might have done in the beginning, Stella confronts Pascal about this, and the two share a wholesome moment in his office. Pascal reassures her that the only reason he has been harder on her is that he sees himself in her and knows there is potential for her to go really far in her career.
Stella has always been a go-getter, and Pascal recognizes this. By pushing her and observing everything she does, he is helping her grow into the kind of leader who can continue to advance in rank within the department. Just like Boden, Pascal believes Stella can go far and wants to see her achieve this.
Hopefully, the show will continue in this direction, as Stella’s storyline is inspirational.
