Chicago Med Season 11 Episode 14 Review: Twist & Shout

Chicago Med, Reviews

Chicago Med Season 11 Episode 14, “Twist & Shout,” continues to give fans the perfect balance between medical stories and the personal lives of the doctors and nurses.

Between Frost facing his parents, Lenox dragging Ripley into Goodwin’s office, and Asher sharing how surprises have a silver lining with her patient, this episode has a little bit of everything we like to see. The season continues to give fans exactly what they want from this show, proving why it has more than 10 seasons of storylines.

Frost’s Past is Here to Stay

Frost has always been a sweet, gentle, and caring doctor. His empathy and sense of duty with his patients have always been something fans could recognize in him. However, this episode changes things when he lets his personal feelings come between him and his patient’s treatment.

Viewers have always known that Frost’s past is a sensitive topic that brings out emotions in him that he doesn’t know how to deal with. With his parents being in town, we see these emotions very clearly. Even more so when he tries to reconnect with him, but they have different points of view on the same memories.

For Frost, his teenage years are tinted with a negative color. He remembers his parents exploiting him and his fame to get more money, which has undoubtedly affected him. But his parents don’t have the same recollection of these events because they weren’t affected by them in the long run.

Even though it is clear that Frost doesn’t let these emotions intentionally affect his work, they are coming between him and the usual care he gives his patients. Charles points this out when he tells him that he is advocating for his patient’s family rather than for his patient. This opens his eyes to the reality: he is letting his feelings towards his parents affect how he treats this case.

Luckily, he is able to go back and repair the damage he caused to his patient. This pushes him to accept his parents’ invitation to go on a road trip. Whether this heals a part of Frost or creates more damage is yet to be seen.

Hopefully, this newfound connection only brings closure to a part of his life that has caused so much pain.

Lenox Wants Meaningful
Chicago Med – Season 11

There is something very wholesome about Lenox and Archer going from enemies to best buddies. It always feels like the conversations they have led Lenox to some sort of realization that pushes her to make a choice that benefits her life.

Even though Archer doesn’t know that Lenox is lying about her diagnosis, his saying that most people have to be at the doorstep of death to decide to start living resonates quite loudly with her. Since her diagnosis, we have seen a different side of Lenox. This side seeks adrenaline and doesn’t really care about the consequences of her actions (outside of work).

This behavior pushed Lenox into Ripley’s arms, but has kept her on the fence about pursuing a more serious relationship. Nevertheless, her conversations with Archer throughout Chicago Med Season 11 Episode 14, “Twist & Shout,” push her to do something that she considers romantic, even though most people wouldn’t see it that way.

Seeing Lenox burst into Goodwin’s office with Ripley, telling her they’ve been having sex, and being ready to mention every time and date where they had sex, is one of the funniest scenes we have seen. Goodwin saying, “Have a good evening somewhere else,” only adds to that priceless moment. However, Lenox’s mention of it as romantic brings out her wholesome, cute side.

She sees things differently, but this is her way of telling Ripley that she is ready for something more meaningful, and maybe they can try being in a relationship. This is the unexpected duo we have been waiting for, a relationship that seems to have substance, and we’re ready to see where it leads.

Chicago Med Season 11 is shaping up to be a memorable one. The show has delivered great medical storylines while simultaneously giving us so much of these characters we have come to love.

There is still plenty to be explored this season, but the show is definitely on the right track.
