The Rookie Season 8 Episode 4 Preview: Cut and Run
John faces the idea of starting over when Bailey gets a job opportunity on The Rookie Season 8 Episode 4, “Cut and Run.”
The promo video shows John telling Grey, “Bailey has been offered a job in DC. I was just wondering what a transfer to DCPD would be like?”
Grey is honest with John, saying, “You would have to start at the very bottom again.” When John expresses confidence in his ability to do, as he is the titular rookie, Grey responds, “You were also five years younger.” That part seems to get to Nolan, making him think about it all differently.
The Rookie‘s promotional materials don’t provide much context about Bailey’s potential job. They seem to suggest that Tuc Watkins’s character is the one who offers it.
Instead, the promo video focuses more on Nolan and Bailey witnessing a murder in public, seemingly, soon after John says, “Life is perfect right now. There’s no way we’re messing that up.” The couple springs into action, with John trying to find the suspect, and Bailey calling an RA to the scene.
Meanwhile, “Cut and Run” may kick off Wesley’s storyline of running for the District Attorney of Los Angeles, as seen in the season’s trailer. It’s difficult to imagine what other “big life decision” Angela and Wesley will have to make.
Plus, Necar Zadegan is reprising her role as ADA Vivian Eckert, after last appearing on The Rookie Season 7 Episode 12, “April Fools.” If “Cut and Run” wants to dial up that competition, it makes sense for Vivian to return.
Regardless, don’t forget that this episode airs on The Rookie‘s new day — Monday.
