The Rookie Season 8 Episode 1 Preview: Czech Mate
The team leaves Los Angeles behind to take on a global operation with Monica Stevens in Prague on The Rookie Season 8 Episode 1, “Czech Mate.”
After getting her immunity deal in Season 7, Monica agrees to help the LAPD, FBI, and Interpol “get a legendary weapons trafficker off the streets.” Understandably, John and Bailey still don’t trust Monica. So, she’s not getting her own room, and there’s no time for sightseeing. How long will that arrangement last?
The “Czech Mate” photos show that Nyla will be a part of Nolan’s surveillance team. As for the FBI, the team seems to be in consistent contact with The Rookie: Feds‘s SSA Matthew Garza.
On the other hand, The Rookie‘s Season 8 trailer shows that Celina may take on that role at some point. There are a few short clips where it looks like Nyla and Lucy may be going undercover together.
The trailer also teases Wesley announcing that he’s for the District Attorney of Los Angeles (with Angela by his side!); Grey questioning if Luna has feelings for a new character named Dr. Ashton; Bailey getting a job offer in D.C. that could derail John’s professional track upon transferring there.
There’s also a scene between Lucy and Tim that picks up a question from The Rookie Season 7 Episode 18, “The Good, The Bad, and The Oscar.” Will Lucy move in with him? She understandably responds, “You broke my heart. The scar is so deep, it might never fade.”
If that’s enough for the characters to juggle in a new season — Oscar Hutchinson is back.
