9-1-1: Nashville Season 1 Episode 7 Review: You’ve Been Boarded
The hackers taking over the city provide a small taste of what they’re capable of on 9-1-1: Nashville Season 1 Episode 7, “You’ve Been Boarded.”
After a small hiatus, 9-1-1: Nashville returns with a captivating storyline, setting up one juicy crossover event in the future.
Just as it did before the break, the series continues to prove itself a successful spinoff. It continues to deliver engaging, risky, and well-thought-out scenarios, with adequate character development.

Risking it All
Nothing short of what we’ve already been privy to, Station 113 jumps into action, running directly into some dire circumstances. As the hackers steer a ferry boat directly into a bridge, Don and the team are the saving grace, making it just in time.
It’s their quick thinking of commandeering a speedboat and jumping aboard that helps avoid a devastating attack on the city.
However, the riskiest, most suspenseful, and most tantalizing moment of the hour goes to Roxie and Taylor. When the hackers decide to attack again before the timer hits zero, the mayor, police commissioner, and comptroller are cyberattacked via their medical implants.

Not only is Roxie the one to understand what’s happening in the moment, but she’s the one who comes to the rescue with quick solutions on the spot. Making it an even more daring save is Taylor and her having to cut the mayor open on live television to disconnect his pacemaker.
There’s no doubt that if we had to choose the best hero of each episode, this outing would be Roxie’s hands down.

A Trip Through the Woods
With her horse bucking her off and leaving her to fend for herself, Blythe escapes the barbed wire and begins her way back, but her injuries are dire. That said, it’s one of the instances I had the most issues with.
It’s no secret that the series doesn’t always live in the realm of realism, but for Blythe’s injuries to be as severe as they are, I wish there had been a more straightforward setup.

Replaying her fall in the recap at the beginning of the episode only further showcases how insane her injuries are compared to the simple fall we are shown. Nonetheless, it’s another instance where we get to see Don’s love for Blythe on full display.
Even after spending most of the day helping Station 113 work to prevent mass destruction, his focus is on his inability to reach his wife. While the trainers at the ranch would have eventually realized something was wrong, it’s his initiative that has them ready to jump into action when her horse returns on its own.

The Call is Coming From the Inside
After their first attack on LAX five years prior, have the hackers finally slipped up? That seems to be the consensus among Agent Turner’s team.
During an unwarranted interrogation, he tells Cammie that his team’s research found evidence that the hack was committed from inside the dispatch center. It’s a plausible sentiment to investigate thoroughly, but I find it frustrating that Cammie is the first suspect in this specific scenario.
Not to say that the rest of the dispatch team doesn’t take their jobs just as seriously, but it’s evident from all the time spent with Cammie that she’s the most dedicated. Even in front of Turner’s eyes, she works tirelessly to stop attacks on the city and prevent a mass casualty event.

Thankfully, he’s proven wrong with the polygraph test. Now, though, the suspense is on as they realize the hackers only knew who to target next because they had eyes in the room where voting took place.
Worst of all, Cammie’s forced to return to the cage, knowing that someone among them is responsible for it all. Could it be someone she’s worked alongside for years, or could Ariella and Tilda be the ones behind it all?
Stray Thoughts:
- It’s very clear that Taylor liked what she saw when she watched Blue sharpen axes. Their entire interaction of her helping him do things right exuded sexual tension and flirting. Could we see a spark between the two starting to grow?
- After all of their work to save the mayor, Edward would be an idiot to keep his pissing match with Don from adequately funding the station. Blue’s presence at the station can’t be worth risking hundreds of thousands of lives.
