What to Expect from Doc Season 2 Episode 11: Family Matters
The stakes continue to get higher on Doc Season 2 Episode 11, “Family Matters,” following the death of a patient attributed to Charlie’s hack of the hospital system.
As expected from the developments on Doc Season 2 Episode 9, “Kaddish,” it was only a matter of time before Charlie and Hannah’s efforts to get revenge on Amy would have serious consequences. Boy, did that prove true on Doc Season 2 Episode 10, “Chief.”
Trying to cover their tracks now that the hospital was aware of the hack into Amy’s hospital account, they knocked out the hospital’s computer system.
It was only for a few seconds, but it was enough time to erase the results of a blood test, forcing them to redo it and delaying their efforts to determine what was making a patient sick. That delay ultimately led to the death of a teenager because they were not able to start treatment soon enough.
Before moving on to what that means for “Family Matters,” it’s worth noting two things. First, it’s hard to see a way back for Hannah after this. Even if she wasn’t the one to actually knock out the system, she is involved and shares in the responsibility of this kid’s death.
Secondly, Charlie and Hannah’s whole plan is to get revenge on Amy because they think she is responsible for their father’s suicide, even though they don’t actually know what happened.
It’s hard to see a scenario in which Hannah is allowed to remain a doctor or, frankly, doesn’t face serious legal consequences.
To that end, “Family Matters” seems to be taking a step in that direction when the hospital brings in the FBI to investigate. Between Hannah’s guilt and the FBI’s investigation, it seems this plot will be exposed sooner rather than later.
There were some other developments from “Chief” that we are likely to see play out further on “Family Matters” as well.
First, Amy looks like she is about to throw her hat in the ring for Chief Resident. That is bound to create further conflict between Amy and Sonja, who is also seeking the position. What’s also concerning about Amy going for Chief Resident is that on “Chief,” we saw some flashes of the old Amy.
Will this competition with Sonjia push Amy back into some bad patterns? Relatedly, Sonja has shown some old Amy-like tendencies this season as well. So we could ask the same question about her.
On a personal front, Amy’s daughter received a doctored recording of Amy saying that Danny was her favorite and some other pretty cruel things at the end of “Chief:. The video is obviously fake, but it hit a nerve with Amy’s daughter that will no doubt lead to some sort of emotional confrontation.
If all that weren’t enough for one episode, “Family Matters” has its own bombshell to drop that will almost certainly ripple through the rest of the season. The promo teases TJ learning about Joan’s illness and telling colleagues. As with Hannah, this doesn’t seem like a situation that can end with Joan keeping her job.
Will “Family Matters” be the beginning of the end of Joan’s tenure at Westside?
