5 Reasons to Watch School Spirits on Paramount+

Lists

School Spirits has become one of Paramount+’s most popular original series. However, many have yet to discover the brilliant teen dramedy.

On January 28, 2026, the hit series returns for Season 3. Last season left us with plenty of cliffhangers and exciting potential storylines, which is why now is the best time to catch up before the upcoming season.

If you need some convincing, here’s why you should watch School Spirits.

1. A Gripping Mystery

School Spirits starts the first season off with the mystery of what happened to Maddie Nears. She disappears, and everyone assumes she died. Maddie believes this as well because she wakes up trapped in school with other ghosts.

Maddie, her friend Simon, and the other spirits work to figure out what happened to Maddie. Each episode points in a new direction, and everyone becomes a suspect, including Maddie’s own mother at some point.

The first season ends on a shocking twist that makes this whole mystery a lot more complicated. Each season, so far, ends with brilliant cliffhangers that make the wait for the next season even harder.

2. Swoon-worthy Romances

Maddie and Wally’s romance has become one of the best parts of School Spirits. They’re the high school romance that reminds you why you love them so much. It’s sweet, healing, and Peyton List and Milo Manheim have electric chemistry.

They’re also star-crossed lovers as they’re love story just becomes more complex with each season. Maddie and Wally aren’t the only swoon-worthy teen romance.

Yuri and Charley have become such a cute couple. It’s a queer love story that could rank up there with some of the best of them. Then there are potential romances brewing, such as Xavier and Nicole, who have sort of a love-hate romance in the making.

It’s unclear if this one will ever fully happen, but you get intrigued enough to tune in for the maybe. Then we have romances that are almost guaranteed to develop, such as Rhonda and Quinn.

3. Continues to Get Better

School Spirits grabs you in the first season. Each episode gets better as it grows. Many shows define themselves in the second season. If it’s a truly good show, it will begin to thrive in Season 2. If the show starts well but is not necessarily as good as it seems, Season 2 will be full of narrative issues.

School Spirits Season 1 was great, but Season 2 may be even better. The third season also seems promising. Hopefully, every season gets bigger and better.

4. The Amazing Characters

School Spirits Season 2 Episode 8, "Fire Talk to Me" -- Ci Hang Ma as Quinn, Sarah Yarkin as Rhonda, Jess Gabor as Janet Hamilton, Milo Manheim as Wally Clark, Nick Pugliese as Charley, and Miles Elliot as Yuri

School Spirits has a lot of great twists and turns, but it’s the characters that make the show. Maddie, Wally, Simon, Xavier, Nicole, Rhonda, Charley, Claire, and others make the show worth watching each week.

Every teen character (and many of the adults) offers fascinating storylines. They’re also all characters that you come to adore. We want to know what happens to Rhonda as much as we want to know about what happens to Maddie.

The ghosts and humans are equally fascinating.

5. It’s Addictive

School Spirits follows the weekly format. However, it’s a great show to watch weekly or in a binge. I have only consumed it in the weekly format, but I found myself anxiously awaiting each new episode.

It’s one of the shows I look forward to watching each week. Then I miss it when the season ends.

School Spirits is entertaining, heartfelt, and thrilling. It’s a must-watch. Additionally, you have plenty of time to catch up before Season 3.

School Spirits returns to Paramount+ on January 28, 2026. Then streams every Wednesday.
