Jerrica Tisdale’s Top 5 TV Shows of 2025

Best of 2025, Critic Picks, Lists, The Righteous Gemstones

2025 produced plenty of noteworthy TV shows. Comedies that transformed, dramas that riveted and returning shows that bring us back to our favorite worlds.  TV excelled in 2025.

Many of these shows offer a grand escape from reality while making us lose ourselves in awe with the captivating magic of brilliant storytelling and mesmerizing performances. Many shows having stellar seasons make limiting this list nearly impossible

Therefore, these shows stand out as something special. They are ones you can’t wait to tell your friends about, and TV that makes you cheer when they’re renewed or win awards.

In no particular order, here are my top 5 TV shows of 2025:

1. The Righteous Gemstones (HBO)
The Righteous Gemstones Series Finale - (l-r) John Goodman, Adam Devine, Edi Patterson, and Danny McBride
The Righteous Gemstones Series Finale – (l-r) John Goodman, Adam Devine, Edi Patterson, and Danny McBride

The final season of The Righteous Gemstones delivers a satisfying conclusion that allows the Gemstones clan to grow closer and more chaotic. It’s a fun send-off to one of HBO’s best comedies.

Fans finally experience long-awaited moments such as Kelvin and Keefe’s wedding, and Judy finally reciprocating BJ’s love with her actions. The Righteous Gemstones leaves us sad to say goodbye to this superior comedy and crazy family.

2. Adults (FX)

Adults captures the Gen Z experience in such a quirky, hilarious way. This would be what happens if Broad City and Friends had a baby that’s queerer and more racially diverse.

It’s one of the funniest comedies in years. With a relatively unknown cast, unless you’re very plugged into the social media world, these actors really shine and make you want to see more of them. Adults is the biggest surprise of 2025.

3. Adolescence (Netflix)

Netflix finds another breathtaking limited series with Adolescence. This type of show haunts you. The acting, writing, and editing are some of the best of any scripted series in the last decade.

Adolescence offers a devastating look at what can happen when boys are taught to be men with too much entitlement, ego, and rage in their hearts.

4. The Studio (Apple TV)

The Studio will immediately draw in many cinephiles because it is a hilarious and sometimes painfully realistic look at Hollywood and the studio system.

Seth Rogen, Catherine O’Hara, Ike Barinholtz, Chase Sui Wonders, and Kathryn Hahn are equally fantastic in The Studio. They bring life and authenticity to their characters and this mad Hollywood world.

5. School Spirits (Paramount+)
Anatomy of a Fallout Shelter
L-R: Sarah Yarkin as Rhonda, Ci Hang Ma as Quinn, Milo Manheim as Wally Clark, Miles Elliot as Yuri, Peyton List as Maddie Nears and Nick Pugliese as Charley in School Spirits, episode 7, season 2, streaming on Paramount+, 2025. Photo Credit: Ed Araquel/Paramount+.

School Spirits had an excellent freshman season, but doubts about the second season remained. However, the TV series just proved itself as one of Paramount+’s hidden gems.

The mystery intensifies, and the characters solidify their place in our hearts in Season 2. Hopefully, this underrated TV show continues to surprise and delight in future seasons.
