Chicago P.D. Season 13 Episode 6 Review: Send Me
Ever since losing Gloria, Torres has completely checked out of his life. He is struggling with his faith, has a hard time showing up at work, and doesn’t know what to do next. All of this is clear on Chicago P.D. Season 13 Episode 6, “Send Me,” but it might also be the episode that changes the course of his life.
Benjamin Levy Aguilar has been doing a great job of portraying all of Torres’s emotions. On “Send Me” in particular, his facial expressions show how gone he is. There is nothing there; no emotions, no feelings, no passion. The store clerk mentions it when she says his face was blank, and that is the perfect way to describe him this season.
Torres has been blank because he has been lost. He no longer has the faith that kept him going.

This blankness leads him to make mistakes. When he is involved in the car crash, he should have reached for his phone and called 911 immediately. He should have looked for his gun and had it with him when he checked whether anyone was in the van.
However, these mistakes might have been what saved him and brought him back to us as the Torres we all know. Morgan says it himself, the crash is fate, and they were meant to meet.
In the past, Torres would have bought the fate twist immediately. Now, he struggles with it because his faith is wavering. He doesn’t know if he believes it was all lined up for him and Morgan to meet.
As he begins to hear Morgan’s story and realizes he is telling the truth, Torres becomes more open to the idea that they were meant to meet. And that is when he turns back to his faith, to what he knows is safe.
When Morgan passes out, Torres takes him back to his church and stitches him up. He uses that sacred place as their hideout and proceeds to investigate the case from there. He uses the church’s computer and takes the father’s car. A small but significant step back to where he once belonged.

While we understand why Torres believes Morgan and wants to help him, he should have called the team when he had the chance. By taking Morgan and going with him, Torres forces the unit to keep everything in-house and cover for him once again.
This isn’t unusual for Voight’s team. They always find a way to cover for each other when needed, but with everything that’s happened lately, Torres should have known better.
Nevertheless, Voight will always cover for his team and listen to the reason why they needed to be covered. When they finally catch up with Torres, he claims he believes Morgan, and Voight tells him he knows. That is when he realizes that his team will always have his back.
Maybe that is what Torres needed to slowly find his way back to them, too.

Torres changing back into his regular T-shirt and jeans and sitting at his desk to look into Morgan’s case is a beautiful full-circle moment, in which we see him shed the blankness and return to himself.
Even though he still has work to do on himself, he is prioritizing the work and the victims. It is particularly significant when he tells Morgan’s daughter, “I’m here.” He genuinely means it, and he won’t leave her alone until he finds out who killed her mom.
Hopefully, this storyline will continue to grow, and we will see more of Torres finding himself again.
