The Marlow Murder Club Season 2 Episode 6 Review
On The Marlow Murder Club Season 2 Episode 6, multiples lives are endangered before the season’s end. For once, Judith isn’t one of them.
The man nearly crushed by a falling boat isn’t Harry, but a barrister named James. Yet with Harry present as it happens, evidence stacks against him. Jackie insists on her father’s innocence and is sending her own proof to Suzie when she’s attacked, too
After a couple red herrings involving Greg and a man stealing outboard motors, the ladies find her badly injured but alive. Suzie is already distraught about her friend’s condition when Luna is stolen from under her nose.

With Judith and Becks investigating other clues, she’s sent a ransom note to visit a boat alone and phoneless to pay for Luna’s safe return. The dog is there, but they’re both immediately locked on as it begins to sink.
Thankfully, the others catch on in time. Suzie and Luna are rescued, and James confesses to this crime, Kit’s murder and Jackie’s assault. And if he weren’t busy enough, he’s also actually Darren, a fraudster who’d managed to flee justice until now.
With the arrest and news of Jackie’s recovery, there’s plenty to celebrate. And we can add Tanika permanently taking over her boss’s new role. He’s retiring, not returning. With season 3 already on its way, that’s very good news indeed.

Though one case every two episodes feels rushed after season one, given that the first half of this one was loaded with red herrings, I almost feel as though it could have been condensed more. All that only to have one man responsible for everything?
On the other hand, this timing also means we know very little about Darren/James—at least until we know everything about him. I’m glad we avoid Harry being the culprit, but I almost feel as though we were given a convenient “out.”
All that said, we’re still fully drawn in by the end, especially as the drama reaches its climax. I’d fully anticipated Judith being the one in danger yet again. Not that we want Suzie to be either, but we do want to care about the well-being of all our characters.

It also gives her the chance (along with Jackie, Harry and Luna) to move into the more central role Judith has generally occupied until now. I’m hopefully that trend will continue, possibly featuring Becks more in season 3.
There also isn’t much time for any action not directly related to the case. It’s too be expected in a season finale, but it does mean that we leave a few ends dangling that I hope we’ll get back to as soon as possible when the show returns.
We’ll be waiting a while for that return in the US, but once it comes, I’m sure there will be personal and professional antics aplenty. What do you think the club will take on next, especially now that they’re likely to have a bit more leeway?
