Abbott Elementary Season 5 Episode 1, “Team Building,” welcomes our beloved teaching staff back to class for their fifth year.

The latest season of this award-winning comedy will see classroom shakeups, new hires, and last year’s funding scandal push the staff to their limits once again.

With a dip in second graders, Janine is taking on a classroom of forty students this season. Ava is particularly excited to see if this arrangement will break her. “It won’t,” Janine declares to the staff before whispering to Gregory: “It might.”

Melissa is also navigating tricky changes at Abbott as she prepares to teach math and homeroom to judgmental preteens. Her intensity and all-knowing wisdom will be put to the test like never before as she navigates middle school.

Barb is once again handling her aging career with total grace when she learns a student she taught twenty years ago is now her colleague. This former student is played by Luke Tennie (Shrinking). Several additional new hires will join him, including Mikey Day (Saturday Night Live).

Meanwhile, Gregory may have the classroom on lock, but he faces his toughest student yet when he offers to teach Mr. Johnson how to ride a bike.
