Will Trent Season 3 Episode 13 Review: One of Us Now
They cannot all be hits. Will Trent Season 3 Episode 13, “One of Us Now,” is the rare part two that isn’t as good as the starter episode. It doesn’t continue the momentum.
It all falls apart the moment Will has a drug trip.
We haven’t come to expect dance sequences, shiny outfits, and lovefests, but it adds some lighthearted comedy to the overall seriousness of Will Trent.

The character and the show.
The sequence of Will in a 70s montage is fun until it darkens. Ramon Rodriguez clearly has the time of his life during these moments. He’s moving and grooving in such a campy way.
The whole drug trip seems like an elaborate plan just for the series to have a little more joy and cheer after some heavy storylines in the third season. We have dealt with a serial killer, false imprisonment, the shooting of a child, emotional trauma, a drug ring, and now a cult.
Will Trent has always been a gritty show with comedy, but this season being longer allows it to showcase how dark it can go. We still have five more episodes left, so there is no telling what’s left in store.
Therefore, we appreciate the silly drug sequence in “One of Us Now” for its brevity and comedy. It just doesn’t seem necessary at all. Will doesn’t seem to have any true healing because of it.

He doesn’t reach enlightenment or euphoria.
However, it may have given him some clarity and focus to survive, if not thrive. The next few Will Trent episodes may go back to focusing on Rafael and Will’s relationship, along with the new Jeremy complications. This is a welcomed return, as Rafael has been a delightful addition to the series.
Additionally, protecting Jeremy may allow Will and Faith to start healing their fractured relationship.
A major pitfall of Season 3 is the lack of Will and Faith’s intoxicating dynamic. They have remained partners until recently, but their friendship has been sidelined by so much else this year.
This is why the Jeremy storyline is taking a turn for the better. We may finally see them working together and bringing back some of their platonic chemistry.

Faith and Will’s partnership has been and will always be one of Will Trent’s strengths. Therefore, we appreciate the experimental nature of Season 3, but it’s time to get back to the basics.
The partnership that kicks it all off.
The biggest issue with “One of Us Now” is that it sets up such an interesting storyline with a lot of potential. However, it all kind of goes nowhere. It relies heavily on cult stereotypes and some undercover crime that’s comically obvious.
This episode could have had more depth and explored Will’s fragile psyche and emotions even more.
“One of Us Now” is one of the truly disappointing episodes of a still very strong season. Only five more to go, so only onward and upward.

Stray Thoughts
- Will Trent may also be headed down a familiar and boring road with the Angie and Will upcoming relationship revival.
- The show won. I give up on any outcome that doesn’t end with Will and Angie getting married by season seven.
- Marion is really being underused. Her only purpose seems to be as Will’s love interest, but the show doesn’t even fully allow her to embrace that role because it can’t let go of Angie and Will.
- Faith breaks your heart as she begs Jeremy to leave.
- The only issue with the drug sequence is that it doesn’t let Ormewood fully embrace his goofiness in an instance where he could fully use it.
