Snowpiercer Season 4 Episode 10 Review: Last Stop
Snowpiercer Season 4 Episode 10, “Last Stop,” delivers an action-packed, fan-appeasing series finale that leaves room for a potential continuation.
After four seasons and 40 episodes, Snowpiercer comes to an end with “Last Stop,” and it’s exactly the ending fans have been hoping for.
Leading up to the finale, the series’ protagonists work tirelessly to gear up for their final fight in their pursuit of survival, and with this being the last outing, there aren’t a handful of tasks left to tackle.

The entire goal of “Last Stop” is to prevent the end of the world, and they do just that.
Half of the episode focuses on the battle control of the snowpiercer, a predicament not unfamiliar to these characters. Ruth rallies the Tallies, who are doing Nima’s bidding under the pretense they’re helping save the planet, and enlists them to help hold one last march for the train.
Layton, Melanie, and Alex work to gain control of the engine room and the ability to stop the rocket’s launch. Meanwhile, Javi, Oz, and Till work undercover to take out reception aboard, slowing Nima’s plans.
In the end, it’s a combination of everyone’s determination, strength, and tenacity that allows our protagonists to come out on top.

Nima is taken out of the picture, freezing to death while standing next to the rocket as it launches. But Alex successfully sabotages the projectile, leading to it exploding before it ever hits the stratosphere.
The final ten minutes of “Last Stop” are spent focusing on the reunification of those aboard the snowpiercer and those back in New Eden, the celebrations they perform, and showcasing the only thing that matters in times of the world ending: love.
Seeing these characters laughing, telling stories, and genuinely enjoying being stress-free is the ending all fans have dreamt of.
The joy that spreads across the train car when Audrey and Oz fall back into their old ways of performing is palpable. It radiates warmth throughout my entire body, bringing me back to the days when we would be regularly serenaded by Audrey’s angelic and spellbinding voice. It’s a moment so surreal it almost brings tears to my eyes.

Despite the glowing ending that promises a better future for all, there are some inconsistencies with plot points. Josie’s last-second change of heart, what happened with the soldiers after, and Nima somewhat sacrificing himself are a few.
As enjoyable as it is for the series to highlight the importance of love in these final moments of the series, the conclusion to Josie’s journey is a bit underwhelming.
Josie realizes the importance of being a bigger person and the power of love after Dr. Headwood’s bawling. However, in her situation, there’s almost a sense of needing that violence after all the harm Dr. Headwood inflicted since her arrival to the series in Season 2.
Dr. Headwood deserves a more barbaric ending, especially for the experiments she conducted on both Josie and Liana. We’ve spent the past four years dealing with gruesome deaths, so why stop there? Josie throwing her outside to freeze to death would be ten times more fitting and entertaining than what she’s given.

Another point of discussion seemingly forgotten after their win: the soldiers on snowpiercer. What happened to them? It feels safe for the audience to assume they locked them away somewhere, but it would be nice to see that in action.
It’s doubtful Snowpiercer will ever be revived, seeing as how hard it was to bring the final season to air, but I love how open-ended “Last Stop” is.
With the final moment of the series being a shot of new vegetation sprouting, there’s a real potential for the series to either see a continuation or a reboot that picks up years later.
Stray Thoughts:
- What makes “Last Stop” so entertaining is the nostalgia it provides. Watching Layton and the rest of these beloved characters rally together for a common cause, determined not to let anything in their way, reminds me heavily of the first two seasons.
- I wish we’d been able to see more of Miles and Roche. We at least get to see Roche a good handful of times in the final stretch of the episode, but Miles is essentially non-existent.
