Colin from Accounts Season 3 Review: The Right Choice
Love is a choice. Colin from Accounts Season 3 works with this thesis, and everything that happens during it tries to prove it. Ashley and Gordon have spent the last two seasons in a complicated romance that included an embarrassing failed proposal, family tragedy, cheating on other partners, and injuring a dog.
They don’t write love songs about the ones that come easy.
Ashley and Gordon’s romance is a complicated ride from start to finish. This makes the final episode, Colin from Accounts Season 3 Episode 8, “Rum ‘n’ Raisin,” such a good last note.
It shows a world where they never meet.
They carry on with life, but all three main characters are less happy. The show asks whether Colin, Gordon, and Ashley are fated to end up together. It says no; that’s silly.
Fate removes choice and consequences. If you love someone, you fight for it to work out. If it doesn’t work out, it’s not about fate. It’s about choices that led to it ending, or external and internal factors that aren’t the universe.
The universe isn’t involved in your love stories.
However, Colin from Accounts does give an ending that’s a little more nuanced. It says no to fate, but doesn’t completely remove the idea that certain choices and circumstances lead people to one another.
It’s up to them how they handle things after meeting. Gordon and Ashley’s messy road can be viewed in many different ways.
Some could see them as two extremely flawed people who need to stay away from each other. Find healthier partners (as they try at the start of Season 3), or as two people who know they’re complicated but love each other too much to let their relationship go.
Gordon and Ashley choose each other. They haven’t always, but now that’s their choice.
Colin from Accounts ends simply with them hugging after Gordon’s bad dream. The show opts out of a big grand gesture or major life changes, but that last moment feels big.
We may not know what the future holds for Ashley and Gordon, but that little moment makes us feel confident that it will all work out. They have enough love and tools to navigate the hard times ahead.
Colin from Accounts overall is a very charming and funny romantic comedy series that explores the topics of love and relationships in less-than-traditional ways. It is written well, heartbreaking at times, and a truly worthy journey.
If you have about 12 hours, then give the series a go. Many may have missed it, but now it’s available to stream on Paramount+. This is the beauty of streaming services. They allow more fans to discover shows they may have missed.
Now that Colin from Accounts has ended, if you missed it, watch it. Even if you saw it as it aired or streamed later, watch it again. It’s likely a show even better revisited.
