‘Doctor Who’ 60th Anniversary Specials Set Premiere Dates on BBC and Disney+

New Doctor Who episodes are landing on BBC and Disney+ in one month.

Disney Branded Television and BBC announced that three Doctor Who 60th-anniversary specials will premiere next month. “The Star Beast” premieres on Saturday, November 25, while “Wild Blue Yonder” premieres on Saturday, December 2, and “The Giggle” premieres on Saturday, December 9.

Doctor Who also shared the news of the beloved show’s return date with a new graphic on X (formerly Twitter).

Disney Branded Television and BBC announced a new partnership that means Doctor Who will air new episodes exclusively on Disney+ outside of the UK and Ireland, where they will air on BBC. 

The three specials will reunite David Tennant and Catherine Tate as the Fourteenth Doctor and Donna Temple-Noble.

The duo will confront “their most terrifying villain yet” as Neil Patrick Harris makes his Doctor Who debut as the Toymaker.

The three specials’ cast also includes Yasmin Finney as Rose Temple-Noble, Miriam Margolyes as the voice of the Meep and Ruth Madeley as Shirley Anne Bingham, as well as returning characters Jacqueline King as Sylvia Noble, Karl Collins as Shaun Temple, and Jemma Redgrave as Kate Lethbridge-Stewart.

When Doctor Who returns for its 60th anniversary, the three specials mark the return of showrunner Russell T. Davies, who also writes and executive produces the series.

Davies wrote the upcoming specials that Rachel Talalay, Tom Kingsley, and Chanya Button directed, respectively.

Phil Collinson, Joel Collins, Julie Gardner, and Jane Tranter executive produce Doctor Who, produced by Bad Wolf and BBC Studios. The latter also handles the series’ global distribution. 

Sex Education‘s Ncuti Gatwa will take control of the TARDIS as the Fifteenth Doctor during the festive period and Doctor Who‘s new season, which streams globally in 2024 on Disney+ and BBC.
