David Tennant and Catherine Tate to Return to ‘Doctor Who’
David Tennant and Catherine Tate will return to Doctor Who for the upcoming fourteenth season!
The BBC exclusively announced that the pair would return to Doctor Who as part of the 60th-anniversary celebrations. This reunion will occur during Season 14 of the show, set to air in 2023.
This news follows the announcement that Ncuti Gatwa of Sex Education will take over the show’s titular role from current Doctor — Jodie Whittaker. Whittaker will end her tenure with Season 13.
Tennant and Tate appeared in Season 4 of the Doctor Who revival that began in 2005.

According to Whovians, that season has been among the most popular of Doctor Who since the show returned to the BBC.
Tennant portrayed the tenth iteration of the iconic Doctor, with Tate playing Donna Noble, a much-beloved Doctor Who companion.
David Tennant previously reprised his role as the Tenth Doctor during the show’s 50th-anniversary special, “The Day of the Doctor.”
Since appearing on Doctor Who, Tennant and Tate have reprised their roles as The Doctor and Donna Noble, respectively, in a series of radio dramas released by Big Finish.

Additionally, the duo reunited on the stage, starring in Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing in 2011.
Some iconic episodes of the Tennant/Tate run include Doctor Who Season 4 Episode 10, “Midnight,” and Doctor Who Season 4 Episode 2, “The Fires of Pompeii,” which included future Doctor Peter Capaldi.
Also, the duo solved the mystery of Agatha Christie’s real-life disappearance in 1926 on Doctor Who Season 4 Episode 7, “The Unicorn and the Wasp.”
Tennant and Tate also starred on Doctor Who Season 4 Episode 6, “The Doctor’s Daughter” during their time together, which featured Tennant’s future wife, Georgia Tennant (née Moffett).

Russell T Davies, who served as showrunner for Doctor Who from 2005 to 2010, is set to return for Season 14. Davies was the showrunner when Tennant and Tate concluded their time on Doctor Who.
Davies said of Tennant and Tate’s return, “Maybe this is a missing story. Or a parallel world. Or a dream, or a trick, or a flashback.”
“The only thing I can confirm is that it’s going to be spectacular, as two of our greatest stars reunite for the battle of a lifetime,” he continued.
However this duo returns, Whovians are undoubtedly ready to welcome them back to their roles with open arms.
