Preview — Lessons in Chemistry Season 1 Episode 4: Primitive Instinct
Elizabeth faces new challenges in the hardships in motherhood and hurdles in her career on Lessons in Chemistry Season 1 Episode 4, “Primitive Instinct.”
The scientist lost her job in a stunning display of sexism by Donatti at the end of Lessons in Chemistry Season 1 Episode 3, “Living Dead Things,” which puts her in a difficult space as a new mother.
Luckily, that professional ending coincided with a personal beginning as Elizabeth Zott and Harriet Sloane’s shared grief of Calvin Evans brought them together after not crossing paths during Lessons in Chemistry Season 1 Episodes 1 and 2, “Little Miss Hastings / Her and Him.”
While there isn’t a promo video for “Primitive Instinct,” the photos tease that Elizabeth and Harriet’s friendship strengthens enough for the latter to invite the former — and her newborn — to what appears to be Harriet’s husband’s coming home party.
Lessons in Chemistry‘s photos also reveal the return of Lewis Pullman as Calvin. The context of this appearance will remain unknown until the episode streams on Friday, October 27. Nevertheless, one thing is sure: Seeing Larson and Pullman together again will be a tear-jerker after those first three episodes.
As for Elizabeth’s new direction spurred by an opportunity: Could it be what that the first episodes only used as a framing device? Could “Primitive Instinct” make Elizabeth Zott the host of Supper at Six? It’s coming. But when?
