The Buccaneers has a new trailer, set to Olivia Rodrigo’s “all-american bitch” and Miya Folick’s “What We Wanna.”

The new drama inspired by Pulitzer Prize-winning author Edith Wharton’s final novel premieres on Apple TV+ next month.

The Buccaneers premieres with three episodes on Wednesday, November 8, followed by new episodes streaming weekly through December 13.

The trailer for the music-driven series shows “a group of fun-loving American girls explode into the tightly corseted London season of the 1870s, kicking off an Anglo-American culture clash as the land of the stiff upper lip is infiltrated by a refreshing disregard for centuries of tradition,” per the show’s synopsis.

Kristine Frøseth’s Nan St. George, Alisha Boe’s Conchita Closson, Josie Totah’s Mabel Elmswort, Aubri Ibrag’s Lizzy Elmsworth, and Imogen Waterhouse’s Jinny St. George are sent to London because “New York has become too limited,” with which Christina Hendricks’s Mrs. St. George agrees.

There, they are meant “to secure husbands and titles, the buccaneers’ hearts are set on much more than that, and saying “I do” is just the beginning.” With glimpses of the other girls’ stories, The Buccaneers trailer heavily features Nan’s love triangle with a lord and a duke, who happen to be the closest of friends.

No matter how the romance ends, the trailer emphasizes the sisterhood between the five girls as an equally important love story. As Lizzie says, “Girls are taught that if a story isn’t a love story, it’s a tragedy. Well, we have us, and what if this is our love story?”

The Buccaneers also stars Mia Threapleton as Honoria Marable, alongside an ensemble cast that includes Josh Dylan as Lord Richard Marable, Guy Remmers as Theo, Duke of Tintagel, Matthew Broome as Guy Thwarte and Barney Fishwick as Lord James Seadown.

The drama series blends 1870s English aristocracy with a modern soundtrack produced by Warpaint’s Stella Mozgawa. The show’s composers are AVAWAVES.
