iCarly Canceled After Three Seasons on Paramount+

iCarly, News

iCarly‘s time at Paramount+ has come to an unexpected end.

The revival series that aired for three seasons on the streaming service has been canceled. iCarly was a continuation of the Nickelodeon show that aired for five seasons from 2007 to 2012.

It saw Miranda Cosgrove’s Carly Shay revive her web show as she and her friends navigate work, love, and family in their 20s. iCarly, which premiered on Paramount+ in 2021, saw the return of Jerry Trainor as Spencer Shay and Nathan Kress as Freddie Benson.

The show welcomed Laci Mosley as Carly’s roommate and best friend, Harper, and Jaidyn Triplett as Freddie’s daughter, Millicent.

Mosley initially broke the news on X (formerly Twitter), writing, “It’s canceled babes,” in response to a fan’s post anticipating the comedy’s renewal.

“Not a joke. The best people I’ve ever worked with in the business. Thank you for tuining in to the reboot. Everyone put their deeply kind, talented souls into this,” Mosley added.

Shortly after, Paramount+ released a statement about iCarly‘s cancellation.

iCarly will not be returning for a fourth season on Paramount+. The series had a great three-season run and delivered on what fans really wanted to see with Carly and Freddie finally getting together,” a Paramount+ spokesperson said via Variety.

“We want to thank the entire cast, the writers, directors and producers along with the whole crew for their dedication, creativity, and talent,” the spokesperson added.

The show’s third season premiered with iCarly Season 3 Episodes 1 and 2, “iBuckled / iLove Your Shoes,” on Thursday, June 1, exclusively on Paramount+.

The highly-anticipated season finally saw Carly and Freddie — #Creddie — define their relationship after over a decade. It also saw Spencer discover new things about himself (He has children!) upon returning to his roots. Additionally, Harper reconnected with an old rival, Tinsley, who eventually became her girlfriend.

iCarly Season 3 Episode 10, “iHave a Proposal,” ended the season with quite a few bombshells: Freddie’s mom Marissa and the Bushwick Plaza’s old doorman Lewbert got married, Freddie and Carly may get married, and Carly and Spencer’s mom finally appeared (off-screen) on the show.

The latter’s cliffhanger teased that iCarly‘s potential fourth season would ultimately cast someone in the role after years of anticipation around the character. However, Paramount+’s cancellation throws a wrench in that potential.

The show’s recurring guest stars included Mary Scheer as Marissa Benson, Jeremy Rowley as Lewbert, Patty Guggenheim as Tinsley, and Josh Peck as Carly’s manager, Paul.

Nickelodeon Productions of Paramount+ produced iCarly, with showrunner Ali-Schouten-Seeks, Phill Lewis, and Miranda Cosgrove executive producing.

iCarly is streaming on Paramount+ now.
