Heartstopper Season 2 Premiere Date Announced by Netflix

Get ready to fall! The next chapter of Charlie Spring and Nick Nelson’s love story is just around the corner.

Heartstopper Season 2 premieres on Thursday, August 3, on Netflix.

As TV Line reports, the streaming service announced the premiere date with a behind-the-scenes look at the upcoming season.

The news comes nearly one year to the day that Heartstopper‘s freshman season debuted on Netflix on Friday, April 22, 2022.

Nearly a month later, the streaming service renewed the YA rom-com series, based on Alice Oseman’s web-comic and graphic novels, for a second and third season.

“Season 2 is based on Volume 3. So we had a good foundation. But there’s not enough in the book to take a whole season of TV, so there had to be a lot of creation of new stuff,” Oseman told Netflix’s TUDUM on Heartstopper‘s set.

As previously reported, Heartstopper Season 2 will see many new faces join the cast, including Jack Barton as Nick’s older brother David Nelson.

Bel Priestley, Ash Self, and Thibault de Montalember will also join the show’s sophomore season.

As Deadline reports, Kit Connor reveals that Season 2 is “cool and fresh” and has a “different vibe to Season 1.” Joe Locke shares that “Charlie goes on more of a journey this season,” teasing that “the story is a bit more mature.”

Meanwhile, Corinna Brown shares that “There’s more going on,” and the date announcement above teases a bit of that action for the characters, including a new journey for Imogen and Elle.

The eight-episode sophomore season will see “Nick and Charlie navigate their new relationship; Tara and Darcy face unforeseen challenges, and Tao and Elle work out if they can ever be more than just friends,” per Netflix’s synopsis.

Plus, fans of Oseman’s source material will be pleased to know that even though exams are on the horizon, there will still be “a school trip to Paris and a prom to plan,” leaving the gang with “a lot to juggle as they journey through the next stages of life, love, and friendship.”

Alongside the series’ newcomers, Heartstopper Season 2 stars Connor, Locke, Yasmin Finney, William Gao, Corinna Brown, Kizzy Edgell,  Sebastian Croft, Tobie Donovan, Rhea Norwood, Cormac Hyde-Corrin, and Jenny Walser.

It will also see the return of Fisayo Akinade, Chetna Pandya, Alan Turkington, and Olivia Colman.
