Heartstopper Forever Release Date Announced by Netflix
Four years to the day since Heartstopper‘s debut, Netflix has announced when Nick and Charlie’s story will end with Heartstopper Forever.
The feature film finale will premiere on Friday, July 17, on Netflix, per TV Line.
As previously reported, Heartstopper Forever went into development last April, and it wrapped production that July.
The movie’s description reads as follows:
Nick and Charlie are inseparable, but with Nick preparing to leave for university and Charlie finding new independence at school, the reality of a long-distance relationship begins to weigh on them. Doubts take hold, and their relationship faces its biggest challenge yet. Meanwhile, their friends are also navigating the ups and downs of love and friendship, confronting the bittersweet challenges of growing up and moving on. Can first loves really last forever?
Kit Connor and Joe Locke return as Nick and Charlie, respectively. They are also executive producers on the project.
Heartstopper creator, executive producer, and graphic novelist Alice Oseman wrote Heartstopper Forever.
“On a basic level, of course, I want the movie to be a beautiful and emotional send-off for the Heartstopper story — celebrating what Heartstopper means to people, while offering a chance to say goodbye to our beloved characters, and many hints of what’s to come in the characters’ future lives,” Oseman shared.
“On a slightly deeper level, I think this movie will explore what makes love survive, or what elevates it, or deepens it,” Oseman continued, per Netflix’s Tudum.
Heartstopper Forever is set to be about Oseman’s sixth and final Heartstopper graphic novel.
It stars the returning cast of Connor, Locke, Yasmin Finney, Will Gao, Corinna Brown, Kizzy Edgell, Tobie Donovan, Rhea Norwood, Jenny Walser, Fisayo Akinade, Nima Taleghani, Leila Khan, Bradley Riches, Darragh Hand, and Eddie Marsan. Anna Maxwell Martin and Derek Jacobi will join them.
Patrick Walters, Iain Canning, Emile Sherman, and Euros Lyn are also executive producers of the movie. Wash Westmoreland is the director. See-Saw Films produces.
