Heartstopper Season 2 Begins Production, Casts Nick’s Brother David and Three Others
Get ready to fall! Heartstopper Season 2 is in production, and four actors have joined the cast for its sophomore season.
Netflix announced that production is underway in the UK, with Leila Khan, Jack Barton, Nima Taleghani, and Bradley Riches joining the ensemble.
The streaming service paired the exciting announcement with a video of the cast doing what Nick and Charlie do best — saying, “Hi.”

TV Line notes that Khan joins the series after an open casting call and will star as Higgs student Sahar Zahid. Barton joins as Nick’s older brother David Nelson. Nima Taleghani comes to Heartstopper as a Truham teacher named Mr. Farouk.
Finally, Bradley Riches, who may look familiar to some as Riches played a student in the debut season, returns to Heartsopper as a Truham student called James McEwan.
Netflix’s TUDUM confirms that all of Heartstopper’s lead actors will return, including Kit Connor, Joe Locke, Yasmin Finney, William Gao, Corinna Brown, Kizzy Edgell, Sebastian Croft, Tobie Donovan, Rhea Norwood, and Jenny Walser.
A photo of the series’ updated cast is featured below. Heartstopper Season 2 may still have some casting surprises up its sleeve. The series notably kept Olivia Colman’s casting as Nick’s mother a secret until the season debuted on the streaming service.

As previously reported, Heartstopper‘s Season 2 renewal came in May of this year — with the assurance that the coming-of-age story will return for Season 3, too.
The series is based on Alice Oseman’s best-selling graphic novels of the same name. Variety reports that Osemon, who created the series, wrote every episode of Season 1 and will return to do the same for the second.
Nick’s brother David, who will appear for the first time in Season 2, is described by Variety as “a university student who is less than enthusiastic about Nick and Charlie’s relationship.”
David’s arrival comes after Nick and Charlie decide to make their relationship official in Heartstopper‘s Season 1 finale. Nick and Charlie’s love story continues in the highly-anticipated second season. It doesn’t have a premiere date yet.
