Will Trent Season 1 Episode 4 Review: My Stupid Detective Brain
Will Trent tries a team-up even more ambitious than the Avengers movies. All five main characters join forces to take down a serial killer in Will Trent Season 1 Episode 4, “My Stupid Detective Brain.”
Will, Mike, Faith, and Angie aren’t exactly well-oiled machines. They allow personal conflicts to mix with professionalism.
Seriously, these may be some of the most unprofessional cops currently on television. Unlike Will Trent‘s previous episode, they don’t break as many workplace protocols.

However, Will allows his jealousy to almost blind him to the real culprit.
Mike, then, allows his ego to interfere with the case. Next, both Faith and Will allow their fears to prevent them from asking for help.
It’s understandable why Faith and Will hide them, people make assumptions about people with diabetes and people with dyslexia. They now have each other to lean on for support and help.
However, hopefully, they can differentiate important details to disclose and things to keep private.
These issues are more personal than professional. Therefore, this makes these details only critical if they affect their jobs. Amanda knows about Will’s dyslexia, and she’ll probably eventually know about Faith’s diabetes.
This means that neither of them really needs to disclose it to anyone else.

Nevertheless, these secrets showcase a pattern that they share. It includes hiding important details and mutual stubbornness, especially when asking for help.
Currently, their partnership is combative, but it’s potentially a good one. They’re starting to understand each other in a way others might not.
“My Stupid Detective Brain” focuses a lot on the chemistry of the team.
Mike and Angie’s similarities help them work well together and their differences balance them. They share their passion for their jobs, troubles with substances, and the need to seem in control. Mike’s stability because of his family makes them different.
Angie’s life still lacks some stability.

Faith and Will seem opposite on the surface level. She is messy and unorganized; he is tidy and organized. However, their values, traits, spirit, and other more inward beliefs seem to match.
Will Trent Season 1 is partially about Will and Faith figuring out how to work together —both professionally and personally. It’s also about them figuring things out in their own personal lives.
We see this manifest in Will with his romance with Angie. “My Stupid Detective Brain” leads you to believe a breakup is near because of his obsession with her brief affair with Mike.
Unexpectedly, they continue their romance. Angie and Will have an interesting romantic dynamic.
Despite their long romantic and platonic history, their relationship feels brand new. Usually, trust and security come with decades of physical and emotional intimacy. You’d expect Will to feel secure with Angie.

However, Will’s jealousy and insecurity may stem less from Angie and more from his years of scars and trauma.
Faith points out that he fears getting hurt again. If you can’t trust someone that you’ve known most of your life to love you, then the pain must be deeper than we can imagine.
