Stephen Amell to Reprise ‘Arrow’ Role of Oliver Queen on ‘The Flash’ Season 9
Arrow‘s Oliver Queen will team up with Barry Allen one last time when Stephen Amell reprises his role on The Flash Season 9.
Per TV Line, Amell will appear in the ninth episode of the longest-running Arrowverse show’s final season, which premieres on The CW next month.
As previously reported, David Ramsey, Keiynan Lonsdale, and Sendhil Ramamurthy will also reprise their roles of John Diggle/Spartan, Wally West/Kid Flash, and Ramsey Rosso/Bloodwork, respectively, in that episode.

Additionally, Batwoman‘s Javicia Leslie will return to the Arrowverse in the upcoming season, and so will Supergirl‘s Nicole Maines as she reprises the role of Nia Nal/Dreamer.
Like the other casting announcements, Deadline shares that The Flash‘s showrunner and executive producer Eric Wallace released a statement about Stephen Amell’s return to the small screen as Oliver Queen.
“As soon as our final season was announced, we knew we wanted Stephen to come back and reprise his iconic role as Oliver Queen. After all, it was Oliver who originally launched Barry Allen on his heroic path,” Wallace said.
Grant Gustin originated the Arrowverse’s take on Barry Allen on Arrow Season 2 Episode 8, “The Scientist,” in 2013. The Flash premiered on The CW in 2014 and would become the longest-running show in the shared universe.

“That’s why everyone on Team Flash felt so strongly that it was important to create a full-circle moment with Oliver’s return in the final season of The Flash,” Wallace continued.
The last time fans saw Amell’s Oliver Queen suit up as Green Arrow was in the multi-show crossover, Crisis on Infinite Earths, which aired on The CW in 2020.
However, Amell appears as Oliver Queen on Arrow Season 8 Episode 10, “Fadeout,” as the series finale says (another) goodbye to the titular character.
Oliver Queen died twice in that crossover event, with his second death spawning the birth of a new multiverse. So, those canonical details make the overall context of Amell’s return a mystery.

Nevertheless, Wallace has high hopes for the small-screen reunion of the superheroes. “The result is an epic-yet-emotional episode we hope Arrowverse fans will enjoy. It’s all to say “thank you” to everyone for watching and supporting our show throughout nine wonderful years,” Wallace said.
“We absolutely cannot wait for everyone to see Grant and Stephen saving the world together again. And yes, there will be thrills, chills, and tears,” Wallace concluded.
TV Line reports that The Flash‘s Danielle Panabaker is set to direct the star-studded ninth episode of the show’s ninth and final season.
Season 9 picks up one week after the events of The Flash Season 8 Episode 20, “Negative Part Two.” Barry Allen and Team Flash will embark on their greatest — and final — battle to save Central City against an adversary that challenges Barry’s legacy and pushes the team to the limits.
