The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power‘s cast grows once again ahead of Season 2 on Prime Video with eight new additions.

The streaming service shared that the new cast members join the series in recurring roles for the second season, which is currently in production in the UK.

The cast additions are Oliver Alvin-Wilson (The Bay), Stuart Bowman (The Pact), Gavi Singh Chera (The Undeclared War), William Chubb (Vampire Academy), Kevin Eldon (Game of Thrones), Will Keen (The Pursuit of Love), Selina Lo (Boss Level), and Calam Lynch (Bridgerton).

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power is based on The Lord of the Rings and Appendices by J.R.R. Tolkein and, for the first time, brings “the heroic legends of the fabled Second Age of Middle-earth’s history” to the small screen.

The series takes place thousands of years before the events of Tolkein’s The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings.

The epic drama travels “back to an era in which great powers were forged, kingdoms rose to glory, and fell to ruin, unlikely heroes were tested, hope hung by the finest of threads, and the greatest villain that ever flowed from Tolkien’s pen threatened to cover all the world in darkness.”

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power begins at “a time of relative peace” and “follows an ensemble cast of characters, both familiar and new, as they confront the long-feared re-emergence of evil to Middle-earth.”

The streaming service cites The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power as “an unprecedented global success as the top Original series for Prime Video in every region in its first season,” having been viewed by over 100 million people worldwide.

The latest casting news for the successful series comes just days after a similar announcement. On December 1, Prime Video revealed seven new recurring cast members.

Those additions include Gabriel Akuwudike (Hanna), Yasen ‘Zates’ Atour (The Witcher), Ben Daniels (Jupiter’s Legacy), Amelia Kenworthy, Nia Towle (Persuasion), and Nicholas Woodeson (Silent Witness).
