The Resident Season 6 Episode 10 Review: Family Day
The Resident Season 6 Episode 10, “Family Day,” does not feel like a fall finale until the last minute, which leaves us needing to see what will happen upon the show’s return.
Lies, chaotic surgeries, the return of a character, and a kiss are a few of the things that make the episode exemplary. However, there feels like something is lacking throughout it all.
As happy as some fans will be that Conrad and Billie finally take the next step, this finale leaves us hanging.

The best thing “Family Day” has going for it is the fantastic acting done by Remington Blaire Evans as Gigi in every scene.
From the beginning of Season 6, Gigi has had some of the best scenes alongside Conrad, proving why she is the perfect combination of Hawkins and Nic.
However, her scenes here touch our hearts and make us love her even more.
Gigi’s conversation with Kyle about Conrad takes the cake as the most emotional moment on the episode. She swears her dad can save anyone — he is her superhero — and once more, she is proven right.
Conrad saves the day both as a doctor and a man. He saves Kyle by finding a diagnosis, and he saves Billie when she is attacked.

As soon as we hear Billie say she cannot perform the surgery her patient’s sons are demanding, we know something will go wrong — and sure enough, everything that can go wrong does.
Against her better judgment, Billie performs the surgery, and the patient doesn’t make it. However, that isn’t even the worst result. It all takes a turn for the worse when the two men decide to go after her.
When they enter the OR, it is shocking how underwhelming the scene is. They throw a few things around and leave, so that cannot possibly be it, right?

Absolutely not. The Resident wouldn’t give us that moment if something more significant weren’t about to happen. The attack in the stairwell starts building up the feel of the fall finale but still falls short.
It is obvious that Conrad will step in and help Billie, but where are the security guards? First, they are seen with Conrad right before he finds Billie; then, they shine for their absence.
The idea of making Conrad the hero is well thought out, but the reality of it leaves us wanting something different. It would have been better if Billie saved herself and Conrad showed up to comfort her.
Once more, Conrad Hawkins becomes a knight in shining armor who steps in when Billie needs his help. The constant back and forth between the two doctors finally see its ending.

As Conrad kisses Billie outside her house and tells her, “I want you to be proud of me,” we realize he is moving on from Nic. Maybe receiving her dad’s forgiveness was all he needed to let go of his past.
A large part of the fandom will be happy for the couple, but some will resent Billie for having feelings for her dead best friend’s husband.
Whatever the case, the moment between the lovebirds doesn’t last long, and we are reminded of Padma’s suffering. Yet, it is her pain, loneliness, and post-partum depression that give us that feeling we look forward to in every fall finale.
When Padma sets foot on that bridge, our hearts start racing. Will Leela’s text get to her in time?
Even though it takes “Family Day” almost 44 minutes to get our heart rates up, the cliffhanger is enough to leave us on the edge of our seats until The Resident returns.
