The Cleaning Lady Season 2 Episode 10 Review: Trust
On The Cleaning Lady Season 2 Episode 10, “Trust,” things start to crumble as information makes its way through the chain of people involved.
We’ve reached a point in the show where Thony has gone from a multifaceted character to a typical Mom. Moms are wonderful, and they’re strong and powerful, but The Cleaning Lady has made it a point that Thony is much more than just a Mom.

Thony is a person with feelings. She’s (supposed to be) a business owner and an advocate for other undocumented people. Moms on TV are often given little personality apart from caring for and sacrificing for their children. It’s honorable, but we don’t get much dynamic besides that.
In Season 1, Thony had ambitions, she expressed actual emotions against the criminal empire. Now, in season two, Thony finds herself rarely uttering words other than, “it’s for Luca.”
Illness like the one Luca faces doesn’t just go away – we’ve been told that. But is it really that hard to give Thony a storyline that doesn’t entirely revolve around getting drugs for her son?
The late end of season one showed us Thony making sacrifices for Luca and still being a person. She had conversations with Fiona that passed the Bechdel test. Thony had conflict with Luca’s father, and Luca wasn’t the problem.
Not only is it discounting Thony as a character, but it’s also making the show less enjoyable with its repetitiveness.

I have never seen Nadia in a physical fight before, but I think she could take Thony.
Not that I’d particularly like to see Thony get her ass handed to her, but if Nadia were to attack Thony, under the circumstances, I totally understand.
“Trust” once again proves that Nadia is the big brain in the relationship between her and Arman. Though it would’ve been tragic for Thony, had Arman not told Thony about his plan, Kamdar would be dead right now.
Now, Kamdar is still alive, he knows something went wrong, and he’s got Nadia by his side as collateral.
What could possibly go wrong?

Respectfully (disrespectfully), when will Garrett be fired from the FBI?
Garrett continues to disregard every single order given to him, whether it’s a mild suggestion or a flat-out order. The only authority he sees is himself, which is rich given the man can’t get it together to save his life. Literally.
At this point, Garrett is only here for intimidation purposes, and even that isn’t holding up as much.
Speaking of men on The Cleaning Lady who aren’t carrying their weight… Arman is exhausting lately. He’s mean at best and aggressive at worst, and it’s not doing him any favors.
He’s got it in his head that he’s the spider forming the web when in reality he’s the moth who was caught two weeks ago. Everything he does is carried out by someone else or left to fall on Thony or Nadia’s shoulders.
As much as I keep hoping for it week after week, I’m afraid we won’t get to a point where someone is going to finally humble Arman and make him realize he’s not the one with the power in this situation.

Fiona has unfortunately gotten stuck in the middle of everything going on with Thony, and as much as I hate to admit it, JD is right. It’s not a good environment for kids, and she shouldn’t be with Thony.
Though JD is a bit harsh, he’s coming from a good place and it’s not a situation that can be won any which way.
Heading into the season finale, the show is tense, but there’s too little at stake when we’ve seen Thony and Arman’s lives threatened multiple times with no follow-through.
I fear that Nadia may become collateral damage for them, and if that does happen, it’s going to be extremely disappointing.
Stray Thoughts
- I have never seen a character more whipped than Robert Kamdar is for Nadia. And I’ve watched The Office (US).
- Garrett claiming to be a top FBI agent and then not deducing that Kamdar threatened Thony for Arman to kill Maya is moronic.
- Please let Luca celebrate his birthday again. That was pitiful.
