The Witcher: Blood Origin Teaser Trailer Released by Netflix
The Witcher: Blood Origin‘s teaser trailer takes The Witcher‘s universe 1,200 years in the past, expanding the world.
Per Deadline, the prequel series, coming to Netflix next month, is based on the novels behind the popular videogame franchise.
The Witcher: Blood Origin‘s teaser trailer presents the prequel series as “a four-part special event,” which Netflix’s TUDUM reiterates.

The new addition to the universe is “set in the elven world 1200 years before the world of The Witcher, Blood Origin tells a story lost to time – one of seven outcasts who unite against an unstoppable power that took everything from them.”
Per Netflix’s logline for the series, “Their blood quest gives rise to a prototype Witcher in a conflict that brings about the “conjunction of the spheres,” when the worlds of monsters, men, and elves merged to become one.”
As Netflix’s TUDUM confirms, the trailer introduces a new trio Michelle Yeoh’s Scían, Sophia Brown’s Éile, and Laurence O’Fuarain’s Fjall.
The trailer shows Yeoh in action as Scían, a sword master and the last of her clan. Meanwhile, Éile and Fjall are members of opposing clans.

The teaser trailer is set to an eerie song beautifully sung by Éile. The song details burning borders and hearts while war yearns. It serves as a backdrop to intense action and the group’s quest across the Continent.
This news for The Witcher franchise comes on the heels of the announcement that Henry Cavill will not return for the confirmed fourth season of the hit series. As TV Line reports, Liam Hemsworth will take up the role of Geralt of Rivia for Season 4.
Cavill stated about the news, “My journey as Geralt of Rivia has been filled with both monsters and adventures, and alas, I will be laying down my medallion and my swords for Season 4. In my stead, the fantastic Mr. Liam Hemsworth will be taking up the mantle of the White Wolf.”

“As with the greatest of literary characters, I pass the torch with reverence for the time spent embodying Geralt and enthusiasm to see Liam’s take on this most fascinating and nuanced of men. Liam, good sir, this character has such a wonderful depth to him, enjoy diving in and seeing what you can find,” Cavill added.
Hemsworth also released a statement, sharing, “As a Witcher fan I’m over the moon about the opportunity to play Geralt of Rivia. Henry Cavill has been an incredible Geralt, and I’m honoured that he’s handing me the reins and allowing me to take up the White Wolf’s blades for the next chapter of his adventure.”
“Henry, I’ve been a fan of yours for years and was inspired by what you brought to this beloved character. I may have some big boots to fill, but I’m truly excited to be stepping into The Witcher world,” Hemsworth added.

The Witcher: Blood Origin takes the world back to a time before Geralt of Rivia, Ciri, or Yennefer, but its events presumably impact the world in which that trio exists.
The cast includes Minnie Driver as Seanchaí, Mirren Mack as Merwyn, Lenny Henry as Balor, Jacob Collins Levy as Eredin, Lizzie Annis as Zacaré, Huw Novelli as Callan “Brother Death,” Francesca Mills as Meldof, Amy Murray as Fenrik, Nathaniel Curtis as Brían, Zach Wyatt as Syndril, Dylan Moran as Uthrok One-Nut, and Joey Batey as Jaskier.
Declan de Barra serves as The Witcher: Blood Origin‘s executive producer and showrunner. Lauren Schmidt-Hissrich and Matt O’Toole executive produce, with Tomek Baginski and Jarek Sawko for Platige Films and Jason Brown and Sean Daniel for Hivemind Content. Sarah O’Gorman and Vicky Jewson direct.
