The Cleaning Lady Season 2 Episode 1 Review: Sins of the Father
The Cleaning Lady Season 2 Episode 1, “Sins of the Father,” flips the show on its head with its season premiere, instilling anxiety and fear into the viewers yet again.
Élodie Yung makes it clear that Thony is the star of the show, and every new thing the character is thrown is handled brilliantly by Yung.
All of our key players gift us with their presence on the premiere, but not all of them make it out alive.
What A (Ar)Man, What A (Ar)Man

The first time we see Arman in Season 2, he’s mopping the floor in prison with an absolutely heinous haircut. Understandable, given, you know, prison, but still. Heinous.
Nadia is right when she says Arman is too trusting — except it’s not Thony he consistently makes that mistake with — it’s Hayak.
Arman trusts too easily, which is why he ends up stabbed by the end of the episode. As not surprising as this is, the way they parallel his stabbing with Marco’s death is delicious.
But… Nadia, a character I truly disliked in season one, has proven herself time and again, especially on “Sins of the Father.” I really have to stan at this point.
Marco Is an Evil Man. In This Essay I–

Look, I’m not saying Luca deserves to be fatherless, or that Chris deserves the guilt he’ll inevitably feel, but I can’t sit here and act like I’m not glad Marco is gone.
Marco verbally abused and intimidated Thony, and he lied to his son. Addicts deserve more than to be villainized — except when they’re actual villains.
It will undoubtedly be interesting to see how the rest of the family — and the rest of the characters — will react to this line Thony has stepped over and cannot come back from.
Maybe there was an easier way to get rid of him than pulling a Big Little Lies, but Marco had to go, and if this means we’re getting more of Chris, I’ll take it.
You Are The Weakest Link

The domino effect in this premiere fits the episode so well, that even some of the more stretched-out scenes feel like they’re done with a blink of an eye.
“Sins of the Father” sees Garrett claiming that he’s been doing everything right and by the book. Not 20 minutes later, Garrett is inside of a protected business intimidating and trying to bargain with Nadia.
Fiona’s actions on “Sins of the Father” are genuinely a surprise. Fiona always has Thony’s back, even where Marco is concerned. Watching her flip between them is disheartening, and definitely made me feel partially disconnected from the character.
Overall, “Sins of the Father” is a great premiere episode featuring question after question that will surely be answered throughout this season.
Stray Thoughts
- Thony is a better person than me because if my sister-in-law was shading me washing money when she’s previously sold drugs… I would not have been as kind as her.
- Anyone who’s seen Big Mouth was not as enraptured in those last five minutes as someone who hasn’t seen Big Mouth.
- I am begging someone to sit Thony down and tell her to stop trusting White people with the fact that you are undocumented. Especially when you just assisted in an accidental murder.

I loved the first season and the characters…but the show has become repetitious…predictable and boring…the show has no where to go…so sad since I was so excited when it first started…
