Legacies Review: This Feels a Little Cult-y (Season 3 Episode 14)

Legacies, Reviews

Hope and Josie take a road trip to visit Lizzie on her witchy getaway, while Finch navigates the wolf pack on Legacies Season 3 Episode 14, “This Feels a Little Cult-y.”

Picking up after a brutal breakup between Landon and Hope, it’s time to see Hope attempt to move on, hopefully for the final time. The back and forth between Hope and Landon is getting exhausting when it’s the same scenarios repeatedly.

For Hope’s sanity and my own, she needs to move on to someone new or learn how to love herself and be alone for a bit. Sometimes relationships can make things worse, and she hasn’t been without one for far too long. It’s time to see her connect with herself again, as well as Josie and Lizzie.

I love the premise behind the episode because it’s centered around the trio’s love for one another at the end of the day. The only thing that I don’t particularly appreciate happening between the three of them is Lizzie’s jealousy for Hope, and that being the cause of her crystal to malfunction.

At some point, Lizzie is going to have to grow up and move past it, and I feel like she should’ve already been there. She has the same recurring situations happen in her own storyline as well, and it needs to switch up.

One thing “This feels a Little Cult-y” excels at is shining a light on a personality we’ve never seen from Finch. I’ve been interested in Finch’s character since her introduction, so I’m ecstatic that we’re getting to see more character development for her.

All we’ve seen from Finch is this badass, hardcore, semi-romantic guise while she’s around Josie, so getting to witness some of her favorite hobbies and such outside of everything is excellent. Everyone is their own person, and no two people are the same, which is why I love that we’re getting some individuality with Finch as she works her way around the pack dynamics.

It’s an interesting move to watch Finch scratch her last move in pool so Jed is allowed to keep his status as alpha, but ultimately it’s the best choice in the end. Finch doesn’t want the title of alpha at the moment; she’s just tired of being the newbie punching bag and decides to go against Jed in hopes of changing things.

Even though Finch is going through it, she can see past the petty pool game to realize that Jed actually cares what happens to the pack, unlike her, who doesn’t know them all that well. Finch isn’t ready for the responsibility that comes with that title, but her bonding with Jed is worth all of the fighting in the end because he can see the things that are wrong within the pack after her insight.

All Jed needs is a slight nudge in the right direction, and I think he’ll have no issue changing some of the rules and dealing with problems head-on.

MG’s storyline is one that I think had the most potential when originally fleshing out the superhero gig; however, as things begin to play out, it’s apparent things aren’t working as smoothly as intended. I love the superhero storyline where he tries to focus on himself and is doing these good things, but it’s upsetting that we don’t get to see him working on himself.

It would have been nice to see MG save someone besides Alaric and Dorian because this is his way of coping by himself for everything that’s happened between him and Ethan. He just lost his partner is crime and is dealing with it in a way he best knows how.

MG returning to the Salvatore school is probably a good idea. However, for his storyline to have been more impactful the viewers should’ve been allowed to see him perform these heroic acts before going right back to school.

With only two episodes left in the season it’s unclear where things will end up, but I’m dying to know how Landons brother plays into the whole scenario.
