Top 15 Moments from Lucifer Season 5 Part 2
After almost a year’s long wait, Lucifer Season 5 Part 2 has finally arrived, and to say they came back with a bang is an understatement.
If you haven’t binged the season yet, you should do so before continuing, as there are spoilers throughout the entire article.
From the beginning scene where God makes himself visible to the mortals to the end scene where we see Lucifer earn the “God” title, I never wanted to stop watching. This season is full of action, comedy, death, and most importantly, love.
Narrowing down my top moments of the season was a challenging feat because there’s so much that occurs.
In chronological order, here are our top moments from Lucifer Season 5 Part 2:
1. The Musical Episode (Season 5 Episode 10)

I’m technically cheating because this isn’t a “moment,” but the entire episode is pure cinematic gold, so it deserves to be included.
Every performance in the episode is top-notch, but the arrangement between Mazikeen and Ella as they mashup “Bad to the Bone” and “No Scrubs” is one for the books. Maze wants to set Ella up with bad boys because she knows they’re her type, but Ella is resisting with every bone in her body.
Every actor ate these performances up entirely and only further showcased their performing abilities. This show is full of triple threats.
2. Chloe Calls God Out (Season 5 Episode 10)

This is such a wild scene to me, and I knew from the moment I watched it that it would be included in this list.
Chloe has never said one word to this man in her entire life, the creator of the universe, and her first thought is to go in for the kill on his parenting skills. You can only give someone so many props, and at this moment, Chloe earned all of mine.
I still haven’t recovered from this epic flaming. My jaw dropped so hard and fast when initially watching the episode, and my love for Chloe Decker shot above the roof.
She knows what it’s like to be a parent and to witness the result of God’s abuse towards Lucifer is something that infuriates her to no end. So, she took the opportunity to give him a piece of her mind and prove that she’s a ride or die.
3. God Explodes Dan (Season 5 Episode 11)

Let’s be honest, if this scene didn’t make you scream “what the f***” at your TV, then there’s something wrong. It begins as such a wholesome interaction as Dan tries to formally apologize for sleeping with his wife because, you know, how the hell was he supposed to know that?
Well, it turns out that God is not as forgiving as he says he is because he takes delight in exploding Dan’s body to pieces all over the police precinct. He immediately snaps him back in place as if nothing ever happened, but that doesn’t stop Dan from remembering what happened.
I will never get over how insane this scene is, and I applaud whoever pitched the idea.
4. The Biggest, Most Expensive Prank (Season 5 Episode 12)

In Lucifer’s natural ways, he decides to develop the perfect prank to pull on Daniel in response to his attempt at murdering Lucifer on Lucifer Season 5 Episode 7, “Our Mojo.” Lucifer took his time to cook up the perfect prank that’s sure to put Dan in his place, and boy does he get it right.
His prank entails bringing in multiple different groups of people, sending Dan to Mexico for a fake police transport, and ends with an old fashion shootout that makes Dan think he’s the sole survivor.
While Lucifer may have gotten one over on Dan for being shot, Dan acquired a different look at life thanks to the situation. In the end, the relationship between the two came out stronger than before.
I’d say that was the best $5 million Lucifer has ever spent.
5. Linda’s Daughter Learns the Truth (Season 5 Episode 13)

Ever since Maze tracked down Linda’s biological daughter, Adrianna, in the first half of the season, Linda’s kept a close eye on her. There was no way that Linda would be able to stay away, so she’s been watching over her from afar ever since. Some may call it stalking, but Linda would probably refer to it as being protective of her daughter.
Sure enough, Linda’s stalking pays off, as she is able to assist Chloe and Lucifer by discovering the truth behind the murder that Adrianna was accused of committing.
Adrianna proves she is as smart as Linda by connecting the dots and showing up at Linda’s house to confirm her suspicions.
It a beautiful moment between the two and gives me tremendous joy to watch. Linda’s wanted a relationship with her daughter for a long time, and now she finally gets to have it.
6. Linda Snaps on Lucifer (Season 5 Episode 13)

While this may not be an extraordinary moment like the others throughout the season, it’s still a valuable moment for the relationship between Linda and Lucifer.
Linda is Lucifer’s therapist and has been for years; that’s their dynamic.
However, that doesn’t mean that their relationship hasn’t evolved past simply being therapist and patient. They are friends, and Linda’s entire life has been turned upside down since the introduction of Lucifer, so her calling him out on not giving her attention during a trying time is necessary.
She is there for Lucifer no matter what he needs, no matter the situation, without hesitation. So for him to completely throw her emotions to the side and act as if she isn’t hurt pushes her over the edge.
Sometimes calling people out in your life is a much-needed thing, whether friends or family members, and Lucifer most definitely needed it. They’re family now, and while he may be used to it being dysfunctional, she’s not. She doesn’t ask for a lot, so Lucifer, not being concerned for her feelings in a trying time, really hurt her.
7. Maze and Eve’s Reunion (Season 5 Episode 13)

The last time Eve was seen was on Lucifer Season 4 Episode 10, “Who’s da New King of Hell?,” when she decides to improve herself and explore earth to discover who she truly is. Now, she’s back covering as a bounty hunter, all so she can get closer to Maze.
I love that they decided to bring Eve back because the dynamic between her and Maze is stellar. They play off of each other tremendously well, and while Eve may not have been able to see it initially, there has always been a connection between the two.
It shows proper character growth for Eve to come back to Los Angeles on her own to confront Maze about her feelings for her, especially after last season. Maze tried time after time to get Eve to realize she had feelings for her, but it continued to go over her head. Eve had to admit her true feelings for herself before being able to accept them.
Eve being shot is a pivotal moment in Maze’s storyline because now that she has self-actualized a soul, she’s dealing with all of these feelings for the first time. She is scared to commit to someone who is okay with dying because she isn’t okay with Eve dying, so she ghosts instead of trying to make it work at first.
8. God’s Retirement (Season 5 Episode 14)

God has made the ultimate decision to retire, which in turn makes him decide to throw a retirement party for him and all of his children.
This scene is fun because it’s the first time that we’ve been introduced to the rest of the angels in heaven one-on-one. It’s fun to watch the dynamic between all of them and Lucifer, knowing that in the end, they’ll all bow to him without even realizing it yet.
I have to say, though, it’s a little too easy for them to be lead astray by Michael for a group of all-mighty angels. Instead of taking the time to do their own recon on the situation, they simply believe Michael about God’s powers going out.
The angels may want Amenadiel for the job, but they’ll soon learn that Lucifer is the best man for the position.
9. The Goddess’s Return (Season 5 Episode 14)

The Goddess returns from her own realm in Charlotte’s body after Gabriel successfully manages to send her a message from their current dimension.
The reunion is emotional for everyone involved, but especially Amenadiel because before she was given her own universe on Lucifer Season 2 Episode 18, “The Good, the Bad and the Crispy,” he didn’t get a chance to say goodbye. This time around, Amenadiel gets to give his mother a proper goodbye, along with his father.
With God retiring over his own universe, it makes sense for him to join his wife in hers because there’s nothing else for him to do on his own. Lucifer and his brothers/sisters will have to continue the journey without their father from now on.
10. God’s Approval (Season 5 Episode 14)

This scene is incredibly moving as we see God finally admit to Lucifer how he truly feels about him before saying goodbye one last time.
All Lucifer has ever wanted from his father is an apology for how he’s treated him, or even to hear that he loves his children. Lucifer’s gotten nothing in return, until now. Before God leaves his universe to explore the Goddesses’ for the rest of eternity, he decides to give Lucifer what he’s always wanted; love and acceptance.
God drops the mysterious act and finally proclaims that he loves Lucifer and is proud of him, throwing Lucifer into a total shock at the revelation.
It’s fun to be dramatic and fight with one’s family members, such as Lucifer does with his father, but it’s a different story when they’re gone forever. Lucifer doesn’t want his father to go because, deep down, he’s missed being around him, and the thought of never seeing him again is scary.
11. Dan’s Death (Season 5 Episode 15)

I’m not sure that I have proper words to explain how I feel about Dan’s death. He doesn’t deserve to die, but I’m happy that he at least got to end his life in the arms of Chloe, getting the chance to say his last goodbye. I’m glad they didn’t make him die without getting to say goodbye to somebody.
It’s an emotional scene in total, but Trixie learning the truth about his death is what sends me over the edge while watching. It’s almost unbearable to watch her break down in Chloe’s arms.
Dan did so much for the people that he loved, and it only makes sense that one of his last actions before his death would be submitting Amenadiel’s police academy application without his knowledge. Everything from Amenadiel’s speech to Ella and Lucifer serenading Dan as he’s lowered down is fitting and is the proper goodbye Dan deserves.
The only thing that is worse than Dan’s death is the revelation that he has to spend an eternity in Hell because he couldn’t forgive himself and let his guilt go. He went through so much hurt in his life, and he shouldn’t have to continue to endure it forever.
I’m thankful for the amount of time that we as viewers got to spend with Dan this season before his untimely death. It’s confirmed that he will make an appearance in Season 6, and all I’m hoping for is Lucifer to help release him from Hell.
12. Maze’s Realization (Season 5 Episode 16)

Dan’s death hits Maze incredibly hard because this is the first time that she’s lost someone close to her while having a soul. Eve was only wounded, and she could barely stand it; now, everything inside of her is screaming because she doesn’t know how to deal with the pain.
Up until this moment, she’s been working to ignore the soul she grew so she can become the Queen of Hell underneath Lucifer’s ruling as God. All Maze has ever wanted was a soul, but she wasn’t prepared for the variety of emotions that came with it. She misses him and has never felt like this before.
As Linda is trying to comfort her, Maze finally realizes that loving and losing is better than never to have loved at all; that’s when it clicks in her mind.
She wants to love Eve even if it means that she may have to say goodbye to her one day. She’s been avoiding taking the plunge because she’s afraid of something happening between them, but that’s a risk that she’ll have to take.
13. Demon Bullets (Season 5 Episode 16)

This scene is A+ because Michael thinks that he has the upper hand in the situation, laughing at the mere thought of a mortal attempting to do any harm to an angel. That is until two of his men are shot down seconds later by Chloe, revealing that she has demon bullets in her gun.
Honestly, this moment should have had a more significant impact, in my opinion.
I know that Chloe and Lucifer’s overall goal isn’t to go in guns blazing, but when Chloe steals the pin from the sword, she could’ve shot Michael in the leg to slow him down, at least.
14. Chloe Visits Heaven (Season 5 Episode 16)

Chloe’s death is one that I saw coming in the finale, simply because during shooting for this season, it was intended to be the last, and I anticipated some big twists coming. However, I am ecstatic that she doesn’t stay dead.
Her brief visit with her father is heart-warming because he gets to see her all grown up, doing the job he always wanted. He never got a chance to see her grow into the woman she is today, and it’s surreal to see her following in his footsteps.
She had forgotten everything that she left behind on earth, finally at peace by her father’s side again, until Lucifer shows up to take her back. While Chloe may be enjoying the presence of her father, her time on earth is far from over, and Lucifer knows that, which is why he sacrifices himself to make sure she lives.
15. The New God (Season 5 Episode 16)

Lucifer’s plan to save Chloe works in his favor because it seems as if that’s the deciding factor in the race for a new God. In his final moments before blowing up, Lucifer finally utters those three little words to Chloe, allowing him to fully embrace his emotions for the first time in his existence.
It seems fitting that Lucifer would become God after sacrificing himself for the woman he loves by forcing himself into a place he’s been banned from for thousands of years. He’s not the same man that all of the angels remember, and I can’t wait for him to prove it to them.
While Michael deserves to die a slow, painful death, I applaud Lucifer for only cutting off his wings, leaving him alive to deal with the consequences of his actions.
I can’t wait to see the rest of the angels realize how wrong they were about Lucifer in Season 6. He’s not the same person anymore, and while they don’t fully realize it yet, they do see some change in him when he decides to spare Michael’s life. Letting him live shows just how much Lucifer has grown since they’ve all been around one another.
