Preview — Supergirl Season 6 Episode 1: Rebirth

Previews, Supergirl

Supergirl flies into its final season this week. Kara and the Super Friends take on Lex Luthor once again on Supergirl Season 6 Episode 1, “Rebirth.”

Even though they beat Leviathan, their biggest problem still remains in a newly superpowered Lex Luthor. Supergirl and team have to face many life-or-death situations to save the world from Lex’s domination.

All might not be well for the Girl of Steel as she realizes that the only way to save her loved ones and the rest of the world is by sacrificing herself.

Knowing that this is Supergirls final season leads me to believe there won’t be any major deaths in this first episode, especially that of the titular character. It’s more likely that this episode will serve as a means to wrap up last season’s stories that were cut short for safety reasons.

Nonetheless, the Super Friends are in for one epic battle to launch their final season. There’s no better way to start the beginning of the end than with the Super Friends united in a common goal. Now that Kara and Lena are working to mend their friendship and trust, anything feels possible.

Episode description: As Brainiac lays close to death after trying to stop Lex, Supergirl and team soar in to save him, engaging in an epic battle with Gamenmae (guest star Cara Buono).

After beating Leviathan, Supergirl turns her attention to Lex who has used the Obsidian platform to brainwash half the world to love him and follow him at all costs, no matter what horrible things he does.

Knowing how dangerous this makes her brother, Lena enlists the entire team – Alex, J’onn, Dreamer, Kelly and Brainiac – to help, but Supergirl realizes that the only way to truly stop Lex is to sacrifice herself.

Jesse Warn directed the episode with story by Robert Rovner & Jessica Queller and teleplay by Jay Faerber & Jess Kardos.
