18 TV Premieres to Look Forward to in 2018

9-1-1, Black Lightning, iZombie, Lists, One Day at a Time, Shadowhunters, The 100, The Magicians, The Resident, Timeless, Veep, Wynonna Earp

While Fall TV premieres get most of the buzz, there are plenty of amazing shows that debut in the midseason and summer. You definitely need to make room for these shows.

Here are 18 season premieres and new TV series that we’re looking forward to in 2018.

1. The 100

The 100

After watching the teenagers of The 100 fight for survival over four seasons, the CW drama will return after a huge time jump. The exciting move will allow the characters grow, and it’s a move that fundamentally changes the series.

We’re excited to see who the characters are now, and what trouble they’ve gotten into since we last saw them — Clarke’s become a mother, Octavia is the new commander, and who knows what happened to the group stuck in space.

Once everyone finds there way back to each other, there are going to be some heartfelt reunions, and odds are people are going to be shocked at how much everyone has changed since they last saw each other six years ago.

Updated: The 100 Season 5 will premiere Tuesday, April 24th at 9/8c on The CW.

2. Nashville

Charles Esten as Deacon Claybourne

Nashville is coming to an end, and it will be interesting to see how they wrap everything up. The past five seasons have gifted us with wonderful characters, relationships, romance, heartbreak, shocking drama, and some fantastic music.

It will be great to see who makes it big, and whose career burns down in flames. Will Deacon find the one to mend his broken heart? Don’t even get us started on Scarlett and Gunner.

Nashville Season 6 premieres on Thursday, January 4 at 9/8c on CMT.

3. Wynonna Earp

The good news is that the Wynonna Earp Season 2 finale didn’t have crazy cliffhangers, but it did set up for some major Wynonna Earp Season 3 stories.

After a very emotional and kickass season, we were thankful that it gave us revelations we had been waiting for all season, but it also gave us some burning questions.

We found out that neither Waverly nor baby Alice are revenants, but then who is Waverly’s father and why did the gun turn blue when she held it? They defeated the witches, but not before they woke up Balshar, and what was the look that Nicole and Dolls are seen giving each other a look in reference to his ring?

And lastly, Wynonna surprised us all by going to get Mama Earp for help!

All we can say is in Emily Andras we trust, and am so excited for the summer premiere!

Wynonna Earp Season airdate has yet to be announced, but if the past seasons are any indicator, it will be airing this summer on Syfy.

4. Good Girls
Good Girls – Season 1

We aren’t going to lie, we were already sold on Good Girls the moment the cast was announced. With leads like Retta, Mae Whitman, and Christina Hendricks and a story about women taking matters into their own hands, how can you not be curious to see what these ladies have in store?

Good Girls premieres on Monday, February 26 at 10/9c on NBC.

5. Timeless
Timeless – Season 2

The little show that could captured our hearts during its first season, and we’re still in shock that we’re getting a second season after Timeless was cancelled (briefly).

Aside from being eager to hop back into the jumpship with Rufus, Lucy, and Wyatt, we can’t wait to uncover what’s happening with Jiya. Hopefully, she will become more involved in the weekly missions.

We definitely have not forgotten about Lucy’s mom being a member of Rittenhouse! Timeless Season 2 is going to be a wild ride, and we can’t be more excited.

Timeless Season 2 is slated either for midseason or for this summer on NBC.

6. Black Lightning

Black Lightning is bringing something refreshingly different to the DCTV universe in the new year, and that’s what makes it one of the most anticipated shows of 2018.

We’ll be getting the first superhero lead of color in the DCTVU as well as what looks like a solid family drama mixed in with Jefferson Pierce coming out of retirement, and his daughter gaining powers of her own.

The first two episodes hit the ground running, giving a great introduction into this new world and the Pierce family. Trust us, you don’t want to miss out.

Black Lightning premieres Tuesday, January 16 at 9/8c on The CW.

Allison is in a love affair with television that doesn't seem to be letting up anytime soon. Slightly damaged fictional characters are her weakness. She loves to spend her free time curled up with a cat and a show to binge-watch. Allison is a Tomatometer-approved critic (Rotten Tomatoes).
