Young Sherlock Season 2 Starts Production at Prime Video
Everyone’s favorite detective is coming back to solve another mystery in Young Sherlock Season 2.
Sherlock Holmes and his team will make their return to Prime Video as the second season is finally in production!
Prime Video made the announcement with a video of director Guy Ritchie and stars Hero Fiennes Tiffin and Dónal Finn. Additionally, four new series regulars will be joining the cast for Season 2.
Following the critical success of Season 1, which reached 45 million viewers in its first 28 days and its trailer garnered over 223 million views, fans of Young Sherlock cannot wait to watch Season 2.
The new series regulars for Young Sherlock Season 2 include Dune: Prophecy‘s Olivia Williams, The Night Manager‘s Indira Varma, Outlander‘s Sophie Skelton, and Game of Thrones‘ Aidan Gillen.
They will be joining a few returning stars from Season 1, including Natascha McElhone, Holly Cattle, and Max Irons. According to Deadline, Season 1 stars Zine Tseng, Joseph Fiennes, and Numan Acar will not be returning for Season 2.
Young Sherlock follows the iconic Sherlock Holmes in his younger days, investigating dangerous conspiracies packed with action, cryptic clues, and surprising twists. The first season focused on the mystery involving a murder at Oxford, which put his life and freedom at risk.
Young Sherlock Season 1 finale revealed that Sherlock’s father, Silas, was actually the mastermind behind the entire conspiracy. With Silas plunging to his death, everything seemed to be resolved.
However, Moriarty’s choice to steal one of Silas’ samples might create new tensions between the two detectives. Given Season 1’s finale, fans can expect the relationship between Sherlock and Moriarty to be heavily tested in Season 2.
Guy Ritche will return to direct the first episode of Season 2. Ritche will also serve as executive producer on Season 2. Furthermore, Motive Pictures leads physical production for Young Sherlock.
Young Sherlock was created and executive produced by Matthew Parkhill. The executive producers are Marc Resteghini, Dhana Rivera Gilbert, Simon Maxwell, Ivan Atkinson, Simon Kelton, Colin Wilson, Harriet Creelman, with co-executive producers Steve Thompson and James Dormer.
