Criminal Minds: Evolution Season 3 Episode 4 Review: The BAU Brings Connor Storrie on to Play
Criminal Minds: Evolution Season 3 Episode 4, “The Witching Hour,” may bring back some of the Voit storyline repetitiveness that we’ve gotten used to tuning out as the episode goes on, but it adds spice to it. By bringing in someone who is actually taunting Voit, the show is making his storyline a bit more interesting.
Let’s be honest, Voit’s wow factor ran out a long time ago, so it makes sense that the show is looking for ways to keep it interesting. We must give it to the writers, this episode does bring more excitement to it, and all we can hope for is that it continues down this path.

If the writers are trying to make Voit’s storyline more interesting and intriguing, the casting director is stepping up to the plate by bringing in a guest star who will absolutely grab the audience’s attention. Not only that, but it will also bring in viewers who want to see Connor Storrie in action.
Even though it is obvious that Lance cannot be the bad guy, Storrie delivers the kind of performance that explains why his career has taken off. The viewers don’t care for Lance at all. On the contrary, he immediately becomes a despicable character as we learn about the stalking and the violence.
The BAU immediately figuring out the identity of Voit’s fan would have been too quick and would have even brought Voit’s storyline down. However, by introducing Lance, they are bringing us one step closer to whoever is sending the mail to Voit.
The only disappointing thing is that Tara and Emily wait until Voit points out that Lance will probably die for them to think about this. It is very obvious from the moment they find out someone stole the photos from Lance that he is the actual target. Voit’s fan wants to use him as his first kill, and the BAU let him walk out unsupervised, making him an easy target.
It will definitely be interesting to see where the show takes the storyline from here.

If we take it back to the golden days of Criminal Minds, one thing that always stood out was that Gideon, Hotch, and Rossi were always mentoring someone on the team. There was always a piece of advice or a word of wisdom being shared, and this is something we’ve been missing.
Criminal Minds: Evolution Season 3 Episode 4, “The Witching Hour,” changes this as Rossi clearly becomes Tyler’s mentor. We saw glimpses of this bond on Criminal Minds: Evolution Season 3 Episode 3, “Body Count,” but it becomes more obvious now.
Rossi begins mentoring him by allowing Tyler to express his theories, even though he already knows they’re wrong. He is giving Tyler the space to grow and better understand how his own profiler mind works.
It is quite great to see Rossi explain things to Tyler, talk to him about his own experience, and push him to analyze the crime scene aloud. Instead of forcing his own ideas on Tyler and pushing him to see things from his point of view, Rossi nurtures Tyler’s strengths and allows him to continue to grow.
He is giving Tyler the kind of confidence the OG Criminal Minds bosses gave the team we know and love.

One thing that will always keep fans coming back is the feeling that everyone on the team is a family. We are reminded of this on Criminal Minds: Evolution Season 3 Episode 4, “The Witching Hour,” when JJ talks to Luke about Henry.
She says it herself, she has a village in her teammates that allows her to be a better, more present mom. Even though she has gone through a huge loss, she knows her children will be okay because none of them is alone.
And that’s truly the beauty of Criminal Minds: Evolution. In the terrible, dark world of unsubs, we have a strong chosen family that brings light to it, and that’s why we keep coming back to the show.
