Widow’s Bay Renewed for Season 2 at Apple TV
Widow’s Bay is only getting started.
Apple TV has renewed the genre-bending show for a second season one day after Widow’s Bay Season 1 Episode 9, “Emergency Shelter,” premiered on the streamer.
Executive producer Matthew Rhys stars as Mayor Tom Loftis, who “is desperate to revive his struggling community.” To do so, “he must contend with superstitious locals who believe their island is cursed,” per the show’s synopsis.
Even with no respect and no belief in him, Loftis tries to make the island a tourist destination, creating a better future for his son. “After decades of calm, the old stories that seemed too ludicrous to be true start happening again.”
Widow’s Bay also stars Kate O’Flynn, Stephen Root, Kingston Rumi Southwick, Kevin Carroll, and Dale Dickey. K Callan and Jeff Hiller are among the supporting cast.
The renewal also comes a week before the first season finale. Widow’s Bay Season 1 Episode 10, “We Hope You Enjoyed Your Time!,” premieres on Wednesday, June 17. Its description is: “We understand that hard choices had to be made and we may never be the same, but we hope you’ll visit again!”
Additionally, it coincides with the announcement that Apple TV has set an overall, multiyear deal with creator, showrunner, and executive producer Katie Dippold.

“Season two is about how everything is great on the island, and there’s nothing to worry about,” Dippold said in a statement.
“From the moment audiences arrived in Widow’s Bay, they’ve been hooked on every eerie mystery, unexpected laugh and cursed secret that Katie, Hiro, Matthew and the entire team have created,” Matt Cherniss, head of programming, Apple TV, said.
“It’s become one of those shows everyone’s talking about, and we’re thrilled to see audiences continue to embrace it. We can’t wait to return for another season,” Cherniss added.
Director Hiro Murai executive produces through his banner Chum Films. Widow’s Bay‘s executive producers also include Carver Karaszewski and Claudia Shin. Ti West, Sam Donovan, and Andrew DeYoung also directed episodes in Season 1.
